BF% Test Results - Opinions?

Just got back from my body fat percentage tests.

Is it an accurate scale? It was the kind where you stand on a scale, and grab two metal handles. Supposedly it sends an electric current through your body to find your percentages? :sad2:

Current Body Weight: 156.9 Lbs.
Total Body Fat: 15.5% (23.6 lbs.)
Fat Free Mass: 84.5% (126.7%)
Total Body Water: 65.5% (45.3 Ltr.)

My height is 5'10, 21 year old male, says my maintenance calories are 1748.

Overall I was pretty happy with the results. I've been working out 4 times a week for the past 6 months. 1 hour of cardio in the mornings, 40 minutes of weights in the night.

Goals:
-Get that "cut" look.
-Bulk while staying cut later on.

I'll post pictures up later. But any opinions on how much I need to cut in order to get that "ripped" look? :car:

Cant tell that without pics bro. Keep in mind, B.F. calculators are known to be 6% off on the average. If your 5'10" like me and only weigh 156, you cant be that far off from cuttin it up.

Hard to say how accurate they are. I have a Tanita scale that based on other water tests I have had is pretty close to accurate. If you keep track for a length of time you will start to be able to tell based on what you get used to seeing and feeling.

When I am at my leanest ( 120 lbs-9% for a comp) I have nothing to pinch but skin on my abs and my legs show striations on the quads. Now off season I run 14-15% at 135.

If you want to cut up, diet is where you will get the result. Work hard AND diet. Good luck.

IMO you need to add more muscle before thinking about cutting, you're only 160lbs at 5'10", if you drop any more weight you'll look more defined but probably very skinny. I'd try adding about another 20lbs at least before thinking about cutting anything back

I agree, and your stats you asked about look accurate. Ya got a good starting foundation for a guy your weight, bust butt and youll definetely get to where ya wanna be.

Yeah I'm already pretty scrawny.
But, I'd like to get a little bit more "cut" before I start a bulk...Simply to enjoy having lines and veins on my body...and to impress the ladies :luxlove:

If all goe's to plan I'd like to lose about 3-4 glamor lbs. of fat. Get my BF% down to 14% range. Then start bulking in January on a cleaner frame. :)

Thing is, more muscle will stretch the skin more and look better on your frame.

It also increases your caloric needs, which can make getting 'cut' easier.

at 5'10" you are close to your 'ideal weight' per various charts you can find online (though I always take those with a grain of salt). Point is, at 15% bodyfat, you are healthy, but under muscled.

winter is a great time to bulk up...its not like you can run around on the beach half-nekkid showing off your six-pack in November, right?

toss more muscle on the frame and start leaning out in late January.

Hmm, I never really thought about it like that. I guess if I did have more muscle, it would be pushing out of my skin more...

Ok! I'll start bulking and see where that takes me!

UPDATE!!!

Been adding a lot of cardio to my routine...and it's paying off big time!

Body Weight: 155.5 lbs
Total Body Fat: 14.9% or 22.4 lbs.
Fat Free Mass: 85.1% or 128.5 lbs.
Total Body Water: 67.5% or 46.3 Ltr.

So according to that...I gained 1 lb of muscle and lost nearly 2 lbs. of fat!!! :D

My current goal is: chest definition. I want those sexy lines that make girls go "Ooooooo"

Heres some photos for the progress...Slow but sure!

where do u go get test like that?

Good job on your progress, but I would tell ya not to get too caught up in this BF% measuring stuff. Id say put the mirror first and the BF% measurements second. Ive seen people rely on that more than the mirror and end up with a false perception of things since its not an exact science to begin with. Keep workin hard though !!!

looking pretty lean now.
