I'm Anxious! What Do You Think My Chances Are...

that I can go from this...

to something very similar to this? (here's 2 examples)...

I'm thinking I need to drop around 20-25 pounds while I weight train to cut up too. Do you think 20-25 pounds will do it? I also wish I had a much better idea of how long this is going to take me to achieve this goal as I'm consistently working out and eating right????

On A Side Note: Ok I was very nervous and apprehensive to put a picture of my physique as it is up here.
I guess I did, because at this point (now more than ever) I'm really looking for as much tips, advice, and support I can get.

run and run and run some more

those bodies are not built, they are starved down to that. Looks like you have some muscles. This is a dietary, and discipline challenge to the max

you can do it! Do it now, or later on your skin may not make it to that tight- especially the lower one.

p.s. we are all what we are, and showing yourslef just makes you and the whole deal more real.

Good for you

Well, I really can't afford to starve myself in any way, shape, or form, but I definitely can eat super healthy loading up on the salmon, talpia, and veggies, egg whites..stuff like that. I really need satiety in order to keep my energy levels up in order to do every thing I need to do each day.

And Thanks! I always thought the guys who had those facebook and myspace default pics where their shirts are off flexing came across very tacky and insecure, so I never thought I would post a pic of myself with my shirt off. This is the first time.

That's me when my muscles are relaxed, and not all pumped up.
My avatar is an example of what I look like when I just got done lifting.
You can see for example the seperation in my delts, which I'm proud of.

So you think I'm at the point where I should do intense cardio? When you say run, do you mean jogging or sprinting? I'm just afraid that my body fat percentage isn't low enough yet to be depleting my muscle mass, so I'm apprehensive to do intense cardio. My body fat percentage is at 18-19%...I want to get it down to under 10%, then look at my physique to see if it's still too bulky. If it is at that point, then I was planning on doing more intense cardio to deplete some muscle mass just enough to achieve that lean and cut look that I want to achieve so badly.

What do you all think?

Oh sorry, can you please explain further by what you mean with this statement? Doesn't that where the benefits of weight training come in? The picture of the guy in the lower one is the same age as me. Also, look at Sly Stallone who just tightened up more and became leaner and more cut for a new movie role coming up, and he's 62 years old...

(I'm guessing the tattoos are fake for his movie role, btw)

I apologize for saying this, but I think flyinfree's advice is kind of poor.

I don't really see why you couldn't reach a SIMULAR physique. However, the first and second photos you posted are different. Jason Stratham (is that his name? I think it is) is much more bulky than the second photo. The second photo is a lil muscle and no fat, the first was a bunch of muscle and low fat. I personally find the first much more attractive.

You look like you have some good muscle already, I assume from the comments you made you are military or some other sort of high-activity profession. Lots of protein, solid lifting, and calorie manipulation will definantly get you where you are going.

Do some reading around here, I think you're closer, and also farther, than you think.

my advice is poor totally, that is why i didnt give any... I gave an opinion..

i believe it was "you can do it"

or not

lol

I agree wth you. I like the first one (Jason Stathom's) physique better overall.
Statham's fitness level compared to the second guy (Ryan Reynolds) is at a muc much higher level too.

What do you think about what I posted as far as my thought process of how I'm going about doing things and my concern about getting my body fat percentage down first before the potential of depleting muscle mass with intense cardio? You think that is the correct idea as far as how to go about this? Why or why not?

Jason, just keep in mind no matter what route you choose in your training. These people who you are picking as your goal physiques are millionaires and got the $$$ to alter their body with more than just weights. Ive heard sly had a full body tuck plus gyno removal. So just go for whats realistic and that is to be the best that YOU can be. That is all !

running is of the very highest calorie burning activities, and most effective IMO

second- this guys needs to lose weight= deficit = FF's interpretation of starving

lastly- other than Stallone, there is very lil musle in those other two.

You gave no advice only a critque of me

oh,,, and the hurry up and do it was a good thing to say too!

i am done now.

flyingfree is insecure because his scrotum doesn't grow hair. (he is also my bestfriend, please excuse our banter)

I would go with a traditional cycling approach. Bulk and cut, bulk while gaining as little fat as possible, cut while losing as little muscle possible. Continue until results achieved. It is up to you which you chose to do first, you have a decent starting muscle base. this is about YOU, not anyone else. Flyinfree is right, you will have to lose fat to achieve that. But it is up to you if you want to try to get cut first annd then gain more muscle, or vice versa.

Yes, my main point was that you should try not to do both at once. Focus on gaining muscle, or focus on losing fat. Then turn to the other.

hmm, ok. I was told that you need to do both weight training and cardio for weight loss. That doing cardio jacks your metabolism up, while the weight training helps burn more calores per hour and helps optimize your resting metabolism as well. I was also told that the weight training will help make me look cut and not bulky as long as I'm staying way from foods high in fat as well as making sure I consume less calories than what I'm burning. ????

Okay, some good and some bad information there.

Cardio does help with weight loss and is good for you as well. You should do cardio.

The concept of looking "cut" is having good muscle, and low fat. you will look "bulky" if you have the muscle covered with fat. Weight training is not what makes you look "cut". It is necessary componant. You will want to do both weight training and cardio while you are trying to gain muscle, and while you are trying to lose fat. You will not gain muscle in a calorie deficit. You will be trying to maintain it, while you lose fat. You will need a calorie SURPLUS to gain muscle, the balance is in trying to eat enough that your muscles grow, but not so much that you gain a lot of fat. You will probably gain a small amount of fat while bulking even when done properly. That is why afterwards you do a "cut" cycle, where you try to lose the fat and keep the muscle.

Does this make sense? Feel free to ask questions.

I have to agree with western sky, jason stathams body wasn't starved down to look like that at all. I've actually read his whole workout program and it's way more intense then i could imagine doing. this is just a part of it.

I am also looking to have a physique similar to him dude so good luck with that.

Yeah, I remember reading that a while back, and it IS intense. He has a solid background in gymnastics and martial arts, so he has a very high level of intrinsic strength and fitness. Trust me, we all would love to accomplish that level of fitness I'm sure, but I'll just settle for shooting for getting a similar physique as his for now.

Then once I accomplish that goal, I'm probably going to do CrossFit training.
