Preventing/Fighting Off Cancer (must read)

Here's an article that I've made a mission to share with everyone. It's an email I received from one of my readers:

Like alot of families, cancer has definitely made it's unwanted presence in mine. So if you know someone who could benefit from this, pass it on! Bookmark it, copy and paste it, word-of-mouth it, tweet about it... whatever you gota do, do it up!

Cheers.

This is why people should be wary of articles posted in fitness, body-building sites.

As far as i'm aware - unlike what the poster claimed - the article is written by some herbalist named John Hopkins (A coincidence?); with no affiliation with one of the worlds best medical schools.

The article says that everyone has cancer; I struggled to understand what was meant by "Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person’s lifetime"; The claim that a strong immune system kills and cures cancer is false, as is the claim that cancer is a sign of nutritional deficiency; Radiation burns cells?.

I guess the editor should stick by his own recommendation: FitJerk's Random Thoughts - If you are going to post a comment, please use your brain before doing so.

ha, well first off "IVE" clearly stated that I'm no expert on cancer matters... maybe your eyes consciously glimpsed over that part?

Regardless... its an article I put up for sharing and whether others choose to believe in it or not is their decision. You claim that strong immune system cannot fight off cancer? Lets see some proof because for what I've read...

A weaker immune system is one of the major factors WHY people get cancer in the first place!
(Ref: Chapter 2, "Cancer Biology" - Raymond W.Ruddon)

So does that mean that a healthier & stronger immune system will lower your chances? Logic says yes. But hey... if some of you know more, post it up. That stuff ain't written in stone, as an when I come across better resources I'll put em up.

Well, if you're no expert (which over 99% of us can claim), it's probably worth researching at least a modicum before an article is posted. It's no excuse for posting false information and claims.

The article specifically states: "cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying". Yes, the immune system helps fight off cancer, but this claim implies that as long as your immune system is strong, the cancer will essentially cease to spread and become destroyed. So if someone where to be in stage 3 of pancreatic or breat cancer, then the qoute claims so long as your immune system is strong, you will be cured.

Surely that wasn't the best resource you could find? :p

yes but I betcha if they are in stage 3 of pancreatic cancer their immune system wasen't so robust to begin with. I mean.. could be wrong, that book goes over other factors as well, but I can be pretty sure.

Best resource? ha maybe, maybe not, I'll leave that for the reader to judge because that resource CAN help out a ton of people. If cancer really hasen't been cured yet then that means they obviously don't know everything about it. so hey... nothings written in stone.

Now... I think all this jabbering has made me more curious about this Hopkins dude. Time to go ninja CIA on his ass. Will report back if I find more fun stuff to banter about ;)

Cheers.

cancer

Bottom line is that anything you do to improve one's fitness, diet and lifestyle enhances the chances of long term health. Once you have cancer then things get real tough, but not hopeless. Alternative treatments have to be employed. Current radiation and chemo procedures are brutal on the patient, but have had success with and without complications. An attitude that nothing is going to stop me is probably just as important as any medical treatments. Faith has a place in the top five.
At 59 with a prominent cancer history in my family, fitness, improved diet and lifestyle are as important to me as anything. Genetics, or environmental hazards may ultimately doom me, but so far I'm healthy. I plan to fight for the quality of my life for my wife and family. Anything I can do or read is valuable. I will never dismiss good info concerning diet and exercise for the sake of science. So many other problems can be addressed by a healthy life style. Read Lance Armstrong's book, stay positive, speak up against the chemical assault on our environment and don't workout to maintain---set goals and improve every time out.

I do agree with World B that genetic factor in family does play role in development cancer. The only things we can do in preventing it is definitely by diet, exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
