lat pull downs

i need some advice regarding lat pull downs. i recently used about 220lbs and felt like it was too much weight. i just didn't feel a good contraction throughout the lats. it seemed like i was focusing on just moving the weight. any recommendations regarding a more productive weight/rep parameter.?

Id simply lower the weight and get form correct, stretch the lats as much as possible and contracting them as much.

Or Could even still use the weight your using but do less reps, more sets..
