Sparrows Experiment

I think you have a very healthy attidude.

As for that bike, the $599 would work fine. I am just wondering why it is so inexpensive?

I'm not sure why the low price, but I guess I will find out shortly the quality..

I did a price out on most the components (which I know would more expensive than buying them on a complete bike) but it really does seem to be a great price.

I will post up once my bike gets in and I get a few rides in.

Yes please do that. I'll be interested in how it rides from a real person :)

Spin class for 50 min, sprints for 25 min, core for 15 min and weights for 30 min

That was tri class. The weights at the end were on my own. I took a routine I found in triathlete magazine that seems way more functional for the tri season than NROL. NROL is good for the off season, but too heavy for tri training. anyway, this routine has 11 exercises (some are the same as NROL) but less weight, more reps. Its done just once a week. I'm splitting it up for now in 2 sessions.

Hi Sparrow

Hi girlie.

I finally got through your whole journal (and I mean the WHOLE thing):eek2:
I wanna be just like you when I grow up:yelrotflmao:
How is that bike search going?
I am also working on my journal, so feel free to stop by.

Wow Betty! Thats a loonnnnngg read! Thank you for taking the time! I will for sure stop by your journal!

Bike search is on hold, at least till my taxes come back :D Its hard to be patient. REALLY hard. Especially cause the weather is SO nice!

Today I did spin class again. It was a gamble. I woke up sore from tri class and I could have done anything, I had no plan. I've been running a lot in past days so I'm letting this week just be a play week. Whatever goes. Anyway, I'm pretty certain I lost about half my body weight in SWEAT this morning. Hard class!

I've been "juicing" this week again and my tummy is much better when I do that. My most favorite combo so far is:

4 large carrots juiced
1 celery stalk juiced
1/2 apple juiced
1c frozen strawberries
1T flax seeds
1 scoop protein

all blended. MAN its soooo good. I've done it 2 times a day all week so far. My other meals have been basic: sauteed chicken in olive oil and garlic, dark greens, walnuts, craisins, feta cheese and balsamic vinegar, sweet potatoes, brown rice and sometimes some fish. That salad combo is the best though. I could eat that all day. I'm a little low on cals but I'm also not really working out a ton this week. Its just maintenance stuff.

My tax refund should be here next week...I'm gonna go CRAAAZY:yelrotflmao:
Hey, and let's not forget about the $300 rebate check for each kid. It's not like they have to know:p Mommy needs a new bike:azzangel::D

I know! thats SO awesome, that rebate check! I did a little happy dance when I found out about that.

True, a happy mommy is one with a decked out BIKE. Those are just the facts!

I'm making lava cake...buzzer just went off....wish me luck not eating it. ugh.

Hey stranger :D

Okay, today I was still sore but its a good sore, the kind that motivates you to do more cause your body is buzzin'. I decided to hit the water since I've been riding a lot this week and thought running on sore tender legs was an "unwise" decision :) I'm trying to be more practical in my reasoning-FF hasn't been around much so this is easier to do lately :D hehe

I finished the triathlon strength training workout that I'd started on Tuesday and then I did:

300 warm up
6x50 skulling 25/swimming 25 @1:00
4x300: 75 swim (10 push ups on deck) 75 swim (10 supermans on deck) 75 swim (10 push ups) 75 swim 10 wall dips. repeat for each 300
200 kick

Very short workout but very quality. I was pretty tired..and still buzzing :) bzz.

I did my body fat this morning to get a ball park figure before I start in on the heavier tri training. It was 16.1 which isn't too bad. I'm not sure what I expected so no big whoop either way.

Treadmill

20 minutes 8:15 pace
10 minutes alternate by minutes 6:20 pace/9min pace

Swim
300 warm up

300 streamlined butterfly kick on back

Nice end to a nice week. I finally got my Garmin and I hope to go out and play with it on a nice run sometime this weekend.

What does all that 25,50,75...mean?
How do you know how to do all this stuff...I have no idea what I'm doing. I just look like a dork at the gym; carrying two books with exercises and training journal.:rolleyes:Now wonder all the meatheads are laughing at me.

Well I grew up on a year round swim team. Most pools are either 25 yards or 25 meters for 1 length. So think of those distances as quarters (as in money) 25 cents=1 lap, 50 cents=2 laps, 75 cents=3 laps and 1.00 (or 100 yards) is 4 laps. You can convert any distance using this kind of thing.

Don't worry about the books, journals etc. Everyone starts somewhere and until you learn it its good that you have them! Keep on the forum, read and ask a lot of questions, and you will learn a lot. Remember that no question is silly

Taking the day off and I was somewhat of a glutton, so that was stupid. I'm a little home bound since my husband has services tonight at church and the gym childcare is closed. I'm just dying to go out and use my garmin. I'm really hoping I can just get my butt ot of bed tomorrow before my hubby leaves and before church and go on a little run. Its these beautiful days that I wish I had my big blue back to ride.

Tuesday I'm going mountain biking and trail running with a friend so thats fun to look forward to.

My baby turned 5 today. Time really does fly.

I'm sure there are lots! Ya just have to pray for one :) Thats my remedy for everything :D

I like your new goals Christi :)

I'm up because I ended up with a workout and now I'm wired. I took my garmin out on the late, dark, scary streets and did my regular 5.7 route at about 9pm. Okay its not actually "regular" but it is my REGULAR route when I actually DO get outside to run. What a cool little gizmo that thing is. It chirped at me each mile, let me know if I was going "too fast" since I'd set a range to be running in. I tried for a slow comfortable jog but it recorded me at 8:24. I seem to hit that pace quite often on these kinds of runs lately. Either thats my new "slow/comfortable" or I'm just super tapered from not running as much this week. it told me I burned 649 cals, my highest heart rate was 142, my lowest was 131, my fastest mile was 8:10 and slowest was 8:29. I had 20 feet of elevation and I "rested" for 2.1 feet. haha. That was tying my shoe. It has auto pause too so if I stop, it stops. very cool. :luxlove:

I have a "friend" (I put it that way because we know each other well but don't hang out) named Jamie Whitmore and she attends my church with her husband Courtney. Jamie is the national AND world champion of the XTERRA races which is the offroad version of triathlon. In a word she is "AMAZING". Jamie went all winter with something she thought was a hamstring injury. Turns out Jamie has cancer, and not just a little-its the size of a baseball and its in her upper left leg, in a network of nerves, pushing on her organs. This world champion pro athlete is struggling now to simply walk.

Please visit her website and browse her site. Its awesome. Before you leave please email her and offer her some words of encouragement.
