A question on waist size...

Ive been going through a workout program and Ive lost 13 pounds in the first 4 weeks but when I measured my waist it was only 1 inch smaller, is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

thanks for any advice!!

Over the last 18 months I went from 30% body fat at 218 to 16% fat at 201, thus losing about 30# of fat. I lost 5 inches around my waist but only lost 3" in pant sizes (36 to 33 pant size). So that doesn't sound too far off.

Where are you measuring your waist?

A man with a big beer belly hanging over his belt who starts exercising and eating healthily may lose body fat; the reduction of the measurement around the beer belly may be greater than the reduction in trouser size.

When i was losing weight, i managed to lose a lot of inches.
I went from a 40 pant size to a 30/31 pant size, and now am at a 32/33 inch size due to thickening abs.
lost 43lbs btw

It's 2 things:

1) Normal
2) FRUSTRATING!!!!

I've lost about 45 pounds and I've only lost 1 pant-size, or roughly 2-2.5inches...everyone is different, your results are fine. It's not going to happen overnight......

Stay the course, it is what it is, don't worry about it and avoid having sexual relations with Brittney Spears. (Just had to throw that in for good measure) :D

Seriously, you don't have a choice.......just keep up the work and it will happen in time. So long as you don't have a huge protruding gut, you'll look fine even if you're waist is larger then average. We're all build different. If I were to guess, I bet you have bone just under the skin around your waist, eh? Again...keep up the good work, don't fret over your perception of a lack of results and keep movin' :D

THANKS A LOT, good to hear its normal. I was ready to pound my fist into something but then I weighed myself and saw that I was 13 pounds lighter so that got me back on track.
