Introduction

:newbie:Looking forward to chatting with others and working on getting fit at forty-something! It's now or never and I want to be able to ride my horses into my Golden years and beyond. I've always been very activie, working with horses and running a ranch, but am serious this year about sticking with an actual fitness routine to make running the ranch much easier on the old joints and muscles. No more surprises when I mount up and find muscles that have not been used. I am working on designing a fitness program to target all the major muscles groups and those used most often in riding as well as a good stretching routine. Love the exercise ball and like to center my workouts around that with barre work as well. Actually found the site looking for body ball exercises-- lots of great ideas.

Welcome! I am 48 and rode my mare until she passed away on Christmas Day.

You are definitely looking for inner thigh musculature development.

Thanks. I am sorry to hear about your mare. What kind of horse was she? I have two paints and two arabians I am training. My paint mare, is my special "first" horse. She is an awesome companion and we have done some partnership training so she has been refusing to let anyone else ride her. I definitely can see the need to work the inner thighs. I learned to post for the first time this summer and I have to say, what a workout!! I also found some of the body ball exercises that target that inner thigh as well as my 60 second burst with side leg lifts. I do a pattern, 8 on each side, then 4 on each side twice, then two on each side 4 times, then 1 at a time for 8 times. It is a little difficult getting through the entire sequence but I am improving and I can definitely feel it in my inner thighs and suprisingly enough my abs.

welcome to the forum

I will apologize in advance for g8r80, he talks about his girlfriends like that all the time, but truly doesn't mean anything by it.

oh-- SWEAT DAILY!

Thanks for the enlightenment. I guess I fell right into that! I am new to this posting thing so obviously much too trusting.

LOL.

Welcome. I see you've already encountered one of the biggest issues many experience when endeavoring to learn more about health and fitness. "Who do you believe?" :D

But seriously, best wishes. Please ask about anything you're unsure of, but try to read relevant stickies and/or run searches first. :)

Everyone's a wise guy, especially my mentor Flyinfree.

My mare was a paint as well and she was bred, due in the latter part of this year. Quite a loss. Here's a pic of me on her from about a year ago.

Thanks--

Thanks for all the welcomes and information. I think this site is going to be very helpful. AND LOL-- I think I burnt more calories trying to figure out this thread than I did with my exercise plan this week. Actually glad to find out I can still talk about horses.

g8r80 your paint looks a lot like my son's paint-- Zippi. She is a little more fiery red with one blue eye. Fiery personality to go along with it. If I can figure out how, I'll upload a photo me and my paint mare, Jazz. She is the sweetest horse on the planet.
