Cate's Diary

Thank you, Liza & LaMa :grouphug:
I have had a really good day. I forgot to mention that my GP asked me what I was doing diet-wise as I said I was trying something different to try to lose weight. When I told her that I am doing 2 days a week at 500 cals a day she approved. I'm glad about that as she did not approve of me doing 16:8 at all, nor did my cardio. I made another appointment for next month & hopefully I will have a decent weight-loss to report.
My hunger on non-FDs is less than usual, which I had forgotten about. I go to bed really hungry & wake up hardly hungry at all. I love that I can just eat "normally" on those 5 days. It's a total mental change for me & feels liberating. Even though I could have a chocolate bar or whatever I just don't feel like it anyway. I love that.
BF today- 2 pieces of oat sourdough, 1 with 1/2 peanut butter, 1/2 Vegemite, the other with 1/2 laurel berry jam, 1/2 apricot jam.
Lunch- a selection of curries (vegetable, venison & chicken) on rice/quinoa with some natural yoghurt & some rhubarb chutney.
Dinner will be cold corned beef, green tomato pickles & hot veggies.
We'll have a fruit platter afterwards.

Oh, I love a fruit platter - they almost invariably are so visually glorious, which makes delicately eating one's way through them that much more pleasurable.
I'm glad the check-up went so well, and that your doctor is right behind you. :)

Sounds like your 5:2 thing is working out and
When I told her that I am doing 2 days a week at 500 cals a day she approved
is good news. Helps to have a doctor's approval. And not feeling like a chocolate bar is good news.

Wanted to tell you I did follow up on your suggestion a while back about volunteering at the bird refuge, I've been talking with them and submitted my formal application yesterday. Thanks for the idea.

Oh I just lost my reply . Said there was a security issue . Basically saying glad all went well with GP and I was drooling over the sound of all that lovely food

That all sounds super-positive Cate. Good to hear. And yes great that your doctor likes that plan for you as well. It's good to find something that works so well!

Thanks, LaMa.
Hi, Amy & thanks. We both love fruit, but I have cut it down a little.

That's great, Rob. I would love to work at a bird refuge :)
Hi, Petal. We do eat very well. I'm lucky that G just loves cooking & is so good at it.
Hi, Liza. I have been feeling more positive about the chances of me losing weight this time & hopefully that will start happening soon on a regular basis.
I'm off to golf soon. It's a bit cooler here this week, which I don't mind at all. Only 23oC today.

I went to golf, played only 3 holes & just felt out of sorts. I really didn't feel like going to golf when I woke up so should have stayed at home. I wasn't unwell or grumpy or anything just wasn't in the mood for golf or company particularly.
Now I'm back home, have made some seed crackers, that are in the oven now, had lunch & am now noshing on some chocolate. I really, really felt like chocolate today. I have 8 squares & that will be it. No more. I won't have any wine later.

Yes some days are just better to skip out on the plans! It's good you came back home once you realized that wasn't where you wanted to be. Enjoy your chocolate! :)

Good for you! for not forcing yourself into doing what you didn't really want to do.
Our time and our bodies are our own, and we get to make the decisions - not our social circles or cigarette advertisers or anyone!
(Caveat - alas! employers do get to have a say in how our time's allocated, a bit.)

Thank you, Liza, Amy & LaMa. :grouphug:
I think I may have been a bit off-colour as I had an upset stomach for a while & then slept for about an hour. I'm feeling much better now.

Ah glad you are feeling better Cate .
I was amused at your 23deg being cooler . That’s pretty warm for us on the island of Ireland .

Thanks, Petal. We don't get the crazy heat that the rest of Australia gets, thank goodness, but it has been in the 30s recently & we had a couple of high 30 days. Ugh.
Today is a FD. I had 100g low-fat yoghurt with a tsp almond meal. I had woken up hungry, but that filled me up.
I have had dreadful hayfever the last week or so. My eyes are stinging & I'm very snuffly. I must get out the heavy artillery- nasal spray & eye drops.
G & I will have a day at home today. We have a full-on weekend with the GK's this weekend. They are staying all w/e. Unfortunately, G is playing golf on Sat. I'll take them somewhere & take them out for lunch.

Before I went to golf yesterday I had a friend request from K, R's GF. I had hoped she would ask me sometime.
Last night I got one from T, D's GF/fiance. That is a breakthrough. D had told me recently that T was going to take Xmas off this year & that they were going to spend it with us. I really had hoped that she would get over her thinking that I didn't approve of her for some reason & always include her in invitations etc, but hadn't held out a lot of hope. I'm really glad she is coming around. I love both of our sons very much and didn't like having that between us.

I have been wondering if fasting does affect my mood. I don't mean the expected "I want food" sort of anxiety, but general anxiety even on non-fasting days. I did a bit of research & it is very mixed. I'll keep an eye on it. I think my brain & body will adjust soon.

That's lovely, about the friend request from K. :) And also one from T - really good if a wrinkle in the relation is starting to smooth out.
Best wishes for today's fast. Good on you, for keeping a clear analytical eye on moods, and how fasting - or diet in general -might be impacting them.

Yes good to keep an eye on for sure. Hopefully it'll just be an adjustment period but good to be open to changing things up if the anxiety continues.

Hi Cate!! The 5:2 is a brilliant diet! Michael Moseley knows his stuff! I’m thinking of doing the fast 800 diet starting tomorrow! :)
