Hello! I've been a member of this forum for years. Starting a new journal to help me stay accountable and consistent. My short-term goal is to lose 19 pounds in 6 weeks. Really ambitious I know. But I'm just putting it out there. After I reach that goal I have every intention of sticking to the same eating plan for life.

For lunch I had brown rice, spinach, mushrooms and baked salmon :)

Wish me luck!

Hi, Topaz & welcome back to the forum. All the best with getting to your goal.

Yesterday went for a run,, I'm using the Couch to 10K training app. It's really good. I'm on week 6 and was able to complete day 1 with ease, I struggled with it before. Progress.

I also started an attempt at counting my calories. I was shocked how much calories I ate (more than double my calorie goal for weight loss). Which explains the plateau. I think I was just scared to face the truth of my eating habits. But now I know better so I can do better.

I brought some fruits, a protein bar, and a veggie stir fry to work today :)

Anyone else find that junk food doesn't taste as good after eating healthy for a while?
I've been meal prepping and bringing my lunch every day, and I've gotten pretty accustomed to it. Stir fried veggies with brown rice. Then I'll bring some fruit and nuts, and a protein bar. Perfect for a full day at work. I work an office job - filtered water and tea/coffee are provided so I also drink those all day. The times when I've strayed from this way of eating, It hasn't done anything for me like it used to. My healthy takeout gave me an upset stomach yesterday. Home cooked food for the win.

I much prefer home-cooked food, but then I have never really been a big fan of junk food. The healthier you do eat the less you crave things & the better you feel. It sounds like you are in the groove :)

Hurray for 140s!

I really wish junk food would stop tasting good to me, I'd be getting to my goal a lot faster lol.
Haha. I can't lie - certain fast foods still taste amazing to me and I still have those once in a while in social settings. But the daily fast food I was having before (like donuts, coffee filled with cream and sugar, even healthy bowls) those don't really do anything for me anymore once I started bringing my own food and snacks to work. I also find that drinking tea helps (I'm often sipping on green, mint or Oolong)

It sounds like you are being well prepared & that will hold you in good stead. I drink green tea all the time now too.

Happy Friday! Checking in with some recent NSV's:
- Ran for 25 minutes straight without stopping
- My eating plan is coming more naturally now and experience less cravings
- Last night I brought home my favourite fast food for the family and didn't take one bite :D

Listening to your body is so major key. I do believe that weight loss is mostly mental. One can go out and buy all the fruits and veggies you want, sign up for the gym, and create a weight loss goals, watch a bunch of YouTube videos of others sharing their tips. But you gotta be in the right mindset to actually enjoy treating your body good. But mental will/motivation can also take you so far and it's really important to listen to your body as well and give it what it needs. if that mean taking a break from the gym or eating a bit of your guilty pleasure. The important thing is to keep the snap back game strong - get right back on track ASAP once you start feeling good again.

I've been running at the gym consistently for the past four weeks and I'm noticing a small difference in my legs. I wouldn't go so far as to say that my pants are looser, but I have a few pairs that aren't as tight as they used to be. Overall my whole body and face is definitely shrinking but my legs are really most noticeable to me right now.

It's not hard to make healthy choices it's just very uncomfortable. But I'm starting to get used to it. Last night at 11pm I didn't think twice about going to the gym even though in the past I would deem anything past 9pm "too late" (in hindsight, it was just an excuse).

Gym at 11? Wow! Well done :)
