Hi everyone, I’m new to this site (and forums in general) and thought I’d give it a whirl. I’ve always had trouble losing weight and I know a big part of that is because I don’t usually have a support network (and I like to eat…. A lot). I’m 5’1” and currently weigh 190 lbs. I’ve lost about 15 lbs since December, but I lost motivation over the last month. I’d always been in decent shape until I had my two daughters (3 and 1). I consistently weighed between 120 and 130 lbs before my pregnancies, and while this may seem kind of heavy for someone as short as me, I can honestly say it was all muscle. I have a muscular/stocky build and have no problems building muscle. Since my daughters were born though I’ve had trouble with stubborn fat sticking around. I was in denial about my weight and didn’t see myself as fat. I hit 205 lbs when I finally looked at myself in the mirror and realized something needed to change. Granted, 200 lbs isn’t even that big, but to me I was huge. I decided enough was enough and that I was going to lose the weight! My husband decided that he was going to lose weight as well, so we had this internal support system. It lasted about 3 months and then we both lost motivation. We decided again that we were going to go for it once more. We’re hitting the gym and trying to eat better, but I don’t feel like this is enough support for me. I have trouble with yo-yo eating. I won’t eat anything for breakfast and then eat super unhealthy for lunch. I know this is bad and it isn’t helping me with my goals at all. I’d like to get back down to 130, but I have a long way to go. I’m hoping this will help me stay accountable for my eating and work out habits.

Also, I have a sedentary job that requires no movement on my part, just typing. I try to get up and move at least once an hour. Nothing major, just walk the halls, but it’s not always easy.

Welcome...... There r good people here and you will find plenty of support. The best advice i can give you is to go someplace like my fitness pal and use the bmr tool and that will tell u how many calories you are eating now to b at your current weight. Just do a search like my fitness pal bmr and it should pull it up. They also have a calorie counter that helps you keep up with the calories you r taking in.
Alot of us list our food and others will chime in and give you suggestions.
On the exercise front i can relate. I was basically bed bound when i started and someone sent me a video of seated exercises and that helped. Now im walking more standing up to cook my own meals and even went to the golf driving range.
Maybe since you dont move much at work you could start taking a 30 min walk before or after dinner.
Again welcome

Welcome kora!

You already lost 15 lbs? That's great! Don't panic if you hace 1 month break, it happens to the best of us. What counts is that you don't give up and let go of you of the good habits that you've built.

I hope you enjoy this forum, and that it helps you achieve your goals!

Welcome, Kira! Congrats on the 15 lbs lost! It sounds like you're on the right track. Keep up the good work :coolgleamA:

Thank you everyone for the encouragement! I didn't realize how much of boost this could be! I had my best workout, so far, yesterday! I did eat dessert though and felt kind of guilty about it, but one step at a time!

Food we dont feel we should have will always be easy to get and sometime right in your face. It's hard to say im never going to have that anymore. Its hard to just turn the cravings off so dont expect it to happen overnight.
Your human so dont beat yourself up too bad.

20 minutes of inverval training (heavy weights) and 10 minutes on the stair stepper. That stair stepper is no joke! I'm a little bit sore today but that just means it worked :)

Thank you! And yeah, it's killer... I was sore for 2 days after that one. Shooting for 15 minutes of weight training (leg day) and 30 minutes of cardio today (eliptical).

Alright, I've made a deal with myself. I'm only allowed to watch reruns of shows I love while doing cardio. I get bored with cardio so I gave this a shot yesterday. Decided to rewatch Breaking Bad and I almost made it though the Pilot episode. The time went fast and I wasn't bored!

I cant do cardio right now but once upon a time i would do anything i could to get my mind off of it. I would read or watch videos just anything to at least get my mind off of what i was doing.
Great job :)

I haven't been eating as well as I should be this week (so far) but I have had a couple of good workouts. Yesterday was leg day so today I'm going to take a break from weights and do some cardio. Shooting for 45 minutes on the eliptical.

Sounds as if you are on your way to great things! It's a hard thing to do but how much it helps to be encouraged by like minded people Keep it up!

It's been a while since I've posted anything, I was dealing with a kidney stone for about 2 weeks, then I was out of town for another week. I've only lost a pound and a half in the last 3 weeks, but I lost 8.5 inches overall! I've lost 20 lbs since December and I'm going on vacation at the end of August. I'm shooting for another 20 lbs by then.

Hi Kira. You joined the forum while I was on holiday & it looks like I have missed your diary. The forum has been very busy, which is great.

Well done on losing 8.5" & 20 lbs since December. That's fantastic!
Have you passed the kidney stone? I have(had?) a gallstone years ago & only found out by accident. It only caused me problems if I ate fried food, so I looked on it as a good thing & stopped eating deep-fried food :)
