I can attest to the fact that they are very nice. ;)

Very nice? That's it?

Well, I see how it is.

I'm fully on board with another runner around here! Regarding the tight calves, the best thing I've found for that is stretching on the stairs. Face up the stairs with your heels off the edge, and lower your heels. I go one at a time for a deep stretch. It's helped me a bunch, I do it before every run and then just whenever I randomly think about it.

Oh, I have to stretch my calves or else they'll be in so much pain I'll feel like jumping off a bridge when I'm done running. Only, my calves would be way too sore to manage getting over the side of the bridge, so I'd just lean against the rail and cry until a police officer came and took me home.

So, I find myself being OBSESSED with songs from time to time and I'm currently obsessed with the following songs...

Don Brownrigg - Just Breathe

Alice In Chains - Head Creeps

Cannibal Ox - The F Word

Eric Paslay - She Don't Love You

I only just caught up with your diary properly chef & got a big laugh out of the fire drill. I had missed that! I am really impressed with your commitment to having a red hot go at running & I like your research! Go you!

Well, I started my running adventure yesterday and boy are my arms tired!!! Wait, wrong joke. Anyway, I decided to give morning runs a try this week. My work schedule often gets me home between 6:15-6:30PM and I find it very hard to keep motivated sometimes if I plan on exercising after work. It's hard to get up and go to work all day, then come home knowing I can't relax right away. It's hard to walk through the door and go, "UGH, I still have to work out. Then, shower. Then, eat dinner. Then, help the kids with homework or do something around the house. THEN, I can finally relax." So, I'm going to attempt to take my runs before I go to work this week and see how I feel. I am NOT a morning exercise person, but I'm going to see if I can change that.

I get the research gene from my dad. He ALWAYS researches stuff like crazy before he jumps into a new adventure. Like father, like son, I guess.

Good luck with the morning routine. I've tried many times, myself, with equally as many failures. Should I mention that I'm not someone to be benchmarked?

I can relate to fitness routine!
I had to always make sure and work out before heading to work.. (Server/closing shift)
After running my legs off all night and closing, there was gonna be ZERO chance of a work out once home...lol...

I hope the morning routine works out! I could never commit because of how much earlier i'd need to get up.

It's hard to walk through the door and go, "UGH, I still have to work out. Then, shower. Then, eat dinner. Then, help the kids with homework, and then give Jen a full body massage because I love her soooooo much. I really like making her happy, and she deserves one every single night. THEN, I can finally relax."

There. I fixed it. :p

You two! :smilielol5:-very funny.
Chef- I need to find me some first thing in the morning exercise motivation too. In the evening I just can't be stuffed. I am sooo not a morning person. Can it be done? I'll try too....

Would you like to talk about the things that I deserve? Hmm? ;)

Hey Chef, I enjoyed reading about your eureka moment on the couch. It's hard but we can do it.

The sad thing is that most of my moments are on the couch, HAHAHA. That's probably part of the reason I'm so out of shape.

It's just weird - I'm not a morning person but once I'm up, I'm up. My body and mind are wide awake within minutes of me rolling my fat ass out of bed. I can roll out of bed and, within minutes, be at work busting my ass. However, if I simply bust out in a light jog for a few minutes my body starts screaming bloody blue murder at me.

I'm trying to change that though. I went for a jog this morning and, if it wasn't so damned cold, I think I would've liked it. But, it was like 20 degrees and I turned my fat ass around and came back home after about five minutes of trying to run in the cold. I ran tonight too. Half to make up for my short run this morning, half to rid myself of some...umm...let's just say 'frustrations?' Yeah, frustrations.

I've really enjoyed reading some of your journal. You're funny, which makes it all the more authentic when you open up and talk about your struggles. Running may be your ticket. I'll be following along. So good luck with it.

When Jen and I got married back in October we decorated everything ourselves (BIG mistake, HAHAHA). One of the perks of decorating our own wedding was being able to keep anything we wanted once the wedding was over. And, we did. We didn't keep a ton of stuff, but we held onto a few things that we really liked. One of those things is a table-top chalkboard that we used as a "Welcome" sign that people could see as they walked into the hall in which we got married. We have the chalkboard sitting on our kitchen counter and we quite often write notes for each other on it, most of which are written after one of us goes to bed so we have something nice or cute to wake up to in the morning.

Most all of the notes are things like:

"I love you, honey. Have a good day!!!"
"Be careful driving this morning, the roads are icy. Love you."
"I can't wait until you get home tonight, Chef, so I can do super cool sex things to you."

Ok, maybe that last one isn't true (althooooough :wink wink: :nudge nudge: ), but you get the idea. Now, sometimes we'll draw little pictures and leave little funny or cute notes for the kids too. For instance, this is the picture Jen left for us to wake up to this morning (she wrote "Have a good day!" and drew a heart above the picture)...
