Lower Abs

hey guys, quick question, in my FBO workouts, besides squats and deadlifts, the only other exercise im doing for my abs is either situps or crunches, what can i do instead of those to target my lower abs more, i'm seeing less definition in them then higher up, thanks guys.

I always perform a rotational activity. Whether you do decline russian twists, cable twists, or the torso-rotation machine, they are all very effective at strengthening the muscles of you deep trunk (lower back, abs, obliques). This in turn protects your lower back and spine.

This is normal, men usually carry slightly more fat on the bottom of their stomach, this can also be made worse by a poor posture. To get your lower abs to show you'll need to drop a little more body fat.

Remember that your abs are 1 muscle, it doesn't have 8 seperate parts it has 8 protruding areas of the same muscle. When you work your abs you work the muscle as a whole not just the top or bottom of it.

Getting the Abs to show is a simple function of low body fat. Its like draining a pool, the shallow end tends to drain before the deeper larger end.

This part of the reason why the upper two row of abs tend to show first before the bottom two. (It also a function of how fat is dispersed on the torso, its thicker at the lower end than the top)

Exercises will NOT make them come out more, it will strengthen, etc, sure, no doubt. Lowering your body fat will make the lower end appear more. With an adequate Deficit Diet and full body workout (and cardio, if you wish) your on your way. It WILL take time.

Getting the entire torso (especially the lower end) is hard, and your gonna have to want it, and want it bad.

I don't think that's entirely true, because otherwise - why don't all the anorexic models have a 6 pack?

I'd assume the answer is, because their ab muscles are almost non-existent, which can be aided with exercise, which would make them stand out more.

Right?

Its because the DIET compliments the exercises being done.

One cannot eat 3,000c need 2,000c (accumulation will occur), and do ab exercises, and expect the abs to show. Its truely a function of low body fat, with DIET FIRST and exercising complimenting this. One can have a surplus, and have exercise create the deficit (which is a good idea), but truely this is what gets the job done. Once the abs appear, THEN you get to see the results of your hard work, but will not underneath a layer of excess tissue.

They are malnourished. And body composition may be lacking. In addition, there body fat is low, of course, but THEN they lack overall conditioning--this is somewhat a REVERSE of what were speaking. This is a different subject matter entirely.

diet is what makes your abs show, but they are a muscle and so they can grow like every other muscle.

True but they don't grow that big, the key factor in getting visible abs is low body fat, if your bf is too high then all the ab work in the world isn't gonna help you out

alright, thanks everyone, i get the whole lower your BF then abs will show thing, so would you guys say im probably okay with the regular situps right now, and should concentrate more on abs after reaching peak bulking phase?
