lower abs

ive been going to the gym for a little over a month now and im trying to build a 6pack. the only ab workouts I do is where I do crutches on one of those huge balls. I can see my upper abs starting to pop out, but the lower ones just arent there yet. I do have a small gut which I am slowly shrinking as well. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the types of excersizes needed to train lower abs. Thanks.

just read around the forum. you can spot reduce fat on your stomach. you have to lower your body fat % which starts with your diet. so, what's your diet like?

In my opinion, if your wanting your abs to show, you have to get the DIET straight FIRST, and THEN compliment this DIET with appropriate exercise.

You can work your lower abs every day, ALL DAY, 7 days a week, 3 days aweek, every day for a month.
UNLESS you strip the fat off YOU WILL NEVER get the abs you desire.

Work on your caloric intake. Find out what you NEED (energy IN) and then what you are doing during the day (energy OUT), and then back off a healthy bit (caloric deficit). The Diet cannot be underestimated in my opinion. You litterally are what you consume coupled with appropriate stimulous.

I KNOW that cardio plays a big role in getting rid of ANY fat and that you HAVE to burn it off and then when you've done so, your muscles that you worked so hard to build underneath the fat will show once the fat is GONE!

Also, yeast products (like beer), foods with gluten, cut down soda, drink water and teas instead. I've done this and have drastically lost in this area and although I still have a ways to go, my stomach is almost FLAT! :D

So keep doing cardio, it WILL come off. It takes time to lose!

Like Chillen said, diet should be your first concern if you want to get your sixpack. And as for training, a mix of cardio and strength training will give you the best results training wise since it increases the number of ways you're working your body. Doing more and more crunches won't take weight off around your abdominals since you can't spot reduce fat.

I do drink but not a lot, maybe 2-4 times a month, im slowly trying to cut that down but its hard when everyone around you is drunk :D Whats this about green tea? I would LOVE a caffine drink every morning that is healthy. I usually drink an ice coffee every morning, but i need sugar in it.

Why do you have to drink, because everyone around you is drunk? LOL I see persons eating one of my favorite bad foods: reeses peanutbutter cups, but BAH, I dont need it.........KEEP MIND STRONG, BE WHAT YOU WANT TO be (JUST A MOTIVATOR)

Remember THE DIET IS THE ULTIMATE KING of the universe when it comes to those abs to show. Do yourself a favor, get the diet in order FIRST, and then rock with cardio and overall weight training, and you will be amazed with the results if you give time and patience.

A small amount and a VERY SMALL AMOUNT of REFINED SUGAR IS FINE----in moderation. But in my opinion if your working to get the abs to show, I believe one should:

AVOID REFINED SUGAR LIKE THE PLAGUE, and REPLACE this REFINED sugar with SIMPLE SUGARS of some sort (FRUIT), and gain energy from source examples like--OATMEAL, or if a drink a (sugar substitute, and im not debating the health effects either, okay?).

Sugar in green tea? None for me thanks...

I agree with CHILLEN, watch the sugar intake and the diet. If you can cut sugars out of your drinks it will help a lot. Although the first few weeks can be difficult, once you wean your body of the sticky sweetness of soda and iced mochas (just examples), you will be surprised on how your tastes change.

Keep at it, the abs are there, they are just hiding. With that being said, if you feel you still need some strength in the lower abdominals, there are exercises that will isolate those muscles just like the others.
