Squats and wrists

So lately I've been feeling great about my legs and gains have been coming nicely but there is one problem. My wrists are too weak to properly stabilize the barbell when I try squatting heavier weights. My form is good but I have to kind of bend my upper shoulder area forward a little bit for the heavier weights (only to get started, once I start squatting I can straighten out and it's okay) because if I go completely straight, my wrists hurt like hell and can't take hold the bar. I'm also not that flexible so that might also be a factor since my arms/forearm/whatever can't bend as far back..After I finish my set I always feel a little pain in my wrist, but it's nothing major and it goes away right away. Any tips on what I can do? I can feel my legs wanting more weight but my wrists say no. :(

Make sure that your wrists are not bending back when you are holding the bar. Your hands should be right in line with your forearm, not bent back at all.

It is not comfortable.

If you are correcting form during a lift there is something off about your set up. Your back, shoulders should be tight and set in place when you un-rack the weight.

Shoulder flexibility is an issue with squatting. Make sure you are stretching a lot. There is no substitute for forcing your upper body into the proper position. That is the only way to actually get used to it.

why are you holding the weight with your hands so that it hurts your wrists, the weight should fit comfortably on your traps.
i dont hold the bar at all just push my hands against the plates for balance.

You've gotta have some longass arms, buzz :D

I was wondering the same though, your hands should just be holding on to the bar for balance, nothing more. Front squats are a different story, however, and some bend the wrists back, which may cause those problems..

It's not so much that I'm holding the weight with my hands as it is keeping it balanced cause I feel like the bar will tip over otherwise. I'll try again in 2 days during my legs day.
