I have developed a problem, and don't know what it is. I'm hoping someone hear has maybe heard of something similar before.
My right wrist started hurting after I used my hand to steady myself getting out of bed (the same way you put your hand behind you on the floor if your sitting on the floor). I thought I might have strained it some odd ball way, although there was no swelling. I bought a brace w/ stiff support, and it kept getting worse. After a few days...
*very limited, painful motion in any direction
*thumb was completely numb
*pain shooting up to my shoulder
*couldn't wiggle my fingers w/out severe pain
I went to the doctor, who did an x-ray (no fractures). Then to a Neurologist for an EMG. He said, not only do I not have Carpal Tunnel, I'm not even close to having it, and the test indicated that it was not related to the cervical spine.
OK.
Then, my left wrist started hurting. It didn't get quite as severe (I took Aleve twice a day this time) - but still had very limited motion and had to wear a stiff brace for 4-5 days.
Since then, both wrists have twinges of pain during daily activities, like getting milk out of the fridge. Now, my right wrist started hurting some last night, and it'll probably start getting progressively worse over the next few days, as has been the pattern.
This all started around 6 wks ago. I'm 27 yrs old, and in good health, w/ no history of joint problems or injuries. Anybody ever hear of anything like this? (I'm calling the doc today to get a referral to a bone/joint specialist)
