Tight Back, Deadlifts?

I did deadlifts yesterday for pretty much the first time ever. I was sure to watch my form, shoulders back, explode with heels, bar close to shins, and straight back. My back was tight this morning when i woke up though. Doesn't hurt or anything, just feels tight. I didn't stretch out after my workout so that could be it. Or is it probaly just my form?

its probobly just soreness.

I also only just started doing deadlifts last week.

And yes I had the same experience of soreness in the lower back.

It stayed with me for about 4 days - the longest soreness I have ever had from an exercise.

I did deadlifts again for the 3rd time ever today, I could only do 2 sets because my back felt funny.

My form is good i look in the mirror sideways on to check I am ok but I dunno.

Actually I think I could only do 2 sets because I was using too heavy weights and put too much strain on my back - I am going to use less weight next time.

Wow, I was just about to start the very same thread.

I too started doing deadlifts just this week and had the same soreness in my back. It didnt feel like I was damaging it and I made sure that my form was correct but I ended up finishing my sets early because of the strain on my back.

I guess I will use less weight until my muscle get used to it.

Go to know though that it is a common problem!

The first week I did them about a month ago, I experienced the same thing. I was so sore, my girlfriend gave me a massage and she couldn't believe how tight my lower back was. It won't be nearly as bad come the next few weeks. At least it shouldn't be.

wow thats strange lol youve had the exact same thing happen to u as me!

Just out of interest because you recovered quicker than me,

how much did you deadlift and for how many sets and reps?

I must have been lifting too much then, I was lifting 75kg (165lbs)

u bench more and weigh more than me so most likely I was lifting too much, I will stick to a lower weight to prevent injury
