Woho new Deadlift PR after my injury!

Just got back from the gym. I decided to test my 1RM in deadlift today.
Last year i got hit by a car, tore the medial ligament in my knee, so no lower body work for a while there, lost alot of strenght. So today i was really hoping to just match my old PR of 140kg 308lbs (if even that) but once i did, i felt i had a bit left inn me and put on 145kgs (319lbs), went slow, but was ok. I thought about going for 150kg, but my low back was a bit fatigued so i decided ill do it next time i test my 1rm. All in all, a damned good day, even though i dident break my old pr with alot, im satisfied! :D

That's great news! Good to know even after something as serious as that you can come back and do better then before!

A question, How regularly do people check out their 1rm? I've been training for like 7-8 months and have yet to check mine. Maybe I should do it soon!

well, dont check it often, it depends on your goals. My primary goal is max strenght, so i check it every now and then to see the progress. Usually before i start a brad new routine i check my max, then i can see how much the previous routine has given me in max strenght. If my goal was just size, i wouldnt care much about my max nubers aslong as my lean mass was increasing.

Beware, testing a 1RM is taxing on muscles and the nerve system, do doing it too often is a recepie for overtraining/injury. Its less taxing for beginners than advanced lifters, since advanced lifters have a more efficiend nerve system they can recruit more monitor units (they use "more muscle" when they lift than a newbie because they are more efficient).

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking for mass which I'm getting so as you say I really shouldn't be bothered with it. I may try it once every 6 months just out of curiosity.

CAR KEY!:D Although I know you were hit by a car, where were you hit? Did you get hit from front, side or behind?

side. If you have any martial arts knowledge, i got hit pretty much where you would place a good low kick (not in competition, but if you were to defend against someone and wanting to put them out of the fight)
The front of the car was big though, cant remember the car type, but it wasnt a normal car, it was big. So the front of the car hit me from my knee to right below my hip so all really, all of my left tigh was hit. I was really lucky i dident break anything, i like to think that squats and milk has made my bones strong :D

DAMN! I was expecting you to say behind because I was going to call you the rear-ended victim!( It's a dirty joke):D

i thought about saying behind just because i knew you would make a joke about it :p Damn, i should have had time to turn when i saw the car.

thanks!
And Shaft, just keep training and you'll get there in no time!
next goal is 160 kg deadlift, which is about 350lbs if im not mistaken?

the pic is suppose to be deceiving :p Though, i dont think i look that strong/big anyways, but maybe ill take a coupple of pics when i get home ;)

I actually hadent deadlifted in a while before this either, but i had been doing lots of romanians, Im gonna start doing conventional deads in my routine again now.
