I was wondering....

As I am too broke right now....or even in the next 4 months to get a gym subscription if just doing cardio (basically just running for a certain length/time per day.) would make a reasonable difference. (Yes, I know it will make a difference. Question is how much more of a difference would lifting make as well. I'm trying to cut ~30 lbs in the next 4 months or so.)

I already have my plan for dieting set down, and obviously for cardio. Just money constraints prohibits me from being able to lift. Unless, of course, if I can get a hold of a friend that I haven't been able to get a hold of since November (He works a lot.) who has workout equipment in his garage.

Any, and all help is very much appreciated.
