Can cardio conditioning hinder my weight loss?

Well I would try and get the best of both worlds with the cardio conditioning. Obviously you need to focus on endurance, however increasing your VO2 Max is important as well. So I would think of working with both HIIT and steady state for your conditioning.

As far as fat loss just watch your caloric intake. Make sure you are getting enough calories to not encourage holding or leptin kicking in. So watch to see if you are losing to fast or notice you LBM decreasing, if so you may need to kick up the calories a little bit.
 
also i would reccomend working mainly on your aerobic system as training in the aerobic system can teach your body to use as fat as an source of energy, consequently buring more fat so you'll lose fat content and have a good workout - it also sets you up for higher intensity training (an-aerobic).
