What motivates you to keep lifting?

I just started a workout plan that includes quite a bit of lifting. I find that lifting exercises are among the hardest to stick to. In other words, I'm having trouble staying motivated.

I found an article by a professional athlete who sought to make her mind and body work together in sync, like a machine. It was neat how her motivation for training was almost a spiritual one.

It would be great to start a discussion on what keeps you going...

My workout partner, seeing gains whether they are strength or size, knowing that I have the balls to just keep going.

Lifting just makes me feel powerful. I feel more satisfied after lifting than after a cardio workout. The most important thing is for you to enjoy what you do though. Enjoy yourself, it is definately a body/mind thing. Besides, spring is coming, that is pretty good motivation!

Always challenge yourself, always place importance on any and all results, no matter how "small", surround yourself with people who will challenge you and who believe you can do anything, be creative, use your imagination, learn form others...The wonderful thing about fitness is that there is so much to do out there!

I don't know what happened to the original link I posted, but here it is again:

I think you, Mogwai, would really like this story. It is all about challenging yourself, believing in yourself and then realizing who it is you want to be.

Thanks!

Thanks Janisfit! I did indeed enjoy that article! What are your thoughts on the website in particular? Anything else I should read in there?
