what's your resting heart rate (RHR)?

i just counted mine with my index and middle fingers on my carotid artery. i got 64 beats per minute. my lowest was about 2 years ago when i got 58 beats per minute.

for males:
52-71 beats per minute = excellent
72-92 beats per minute = average
93 < beats per minute = poor

for females:
59-72 beats per minute = excellent
73-91 beats per minute = average
92 < beats per minute = poor

some of you guys who don't do cardio and only lift weights will have higher RHR's.

Well I havent really done any real cardio sessions for a couple of months and my RHR is still 59 BPM.

When you say resting you mean like if you have just been walking/sitting right? When I've taken it at the local grocery store my heart rate is usually like 57. When I was relaxed on the couch for a while reading a book my heartrate was 44.

My resting HR is about 48. When I went to give blood it was 44.
They won't take blood if you are below 50, so I told her to take it again and just though of aggravating things.

But a better judge of your heart health is how fast you can get down to your RHR after exercise.

Yeah, they wouldn't let me give blood either. Didn't know that heart rate rule until I tried.
