For guys only

I am conducting a research paper on weight training in modern society and would greatly appreciate some input from the male readers of this forum.

What I need to find out is what kind of people are involved in weight training today. In other words, who is the typical weight lifter?

Things I'd like to know are:

Your age
Your goals (do you want to gain muscle, lose weight, compete, get better for sports etc.?)
How long have you been weight training?
What is the biggest problem(s) you've had achieving your goals?

I'll go ahead and put forth my own stats -

Age: 20
Goals: Add 60lbs of muscle in next couple of years with low body fat, Vin Diesel look. Started at 135lbs 2 months ago, gained about 15lbs so far.
How long I've been training: 2 months
Biggest problem I've had: Getting my diet together, cooking enough food to last more than 1 day :p

Age: 42
Goal: My plan, cut body fat, gain muscle after leaning out, lean out again by summer and then work on strength.
Training time: 1yr, 1mo intelligently.
Obstacles: I don't eat regularly on the weekends (which for me is four days long). I eat the right foods, but I don't eat at regular intervals.

Age: 15
Goals: Add some mass whilst still maintaining low BF. Stay ripped this summer - bulk come winter.
Setbacks: I am a total hard gainer in mass, not fat. I have to be strict with my diet to reach my goals - and at my stage, not much test.

-Age: 15
-Goals: May-Nov - Train as best I can for wrestling...Nov-Feb - Wrestle/conditioning...Feb-May - Cut
-6 months seriously/intelligently
-Eating habbits at first, that's pretty much not a prob anymore, now just finding time to workout.

Age: 18
Goals: Become all around better
Time: Intelligently for about a year, most effectively about 6 months
Problems: The food timing and quantity comes into play here

Age: 23
Goals: Physical acceptance of my body
Time: About a year if including only informed time training.
Problems: I wasted a month of binge on vacation (+21 pounds) for no better reason than than that i thought i was getting better, and was satisfied, so didn't feel the desire to progress as much.

Age: 24
Goals: Im close where I want to be muscularly, shaving of about 10-15 pounds atm and then I'll see where I'm at. Caridio is priority for me and the weight training will be focused on (If needed) spot-training for better symmetry. Will also try to get stronger without adding mass.
Time: 8 years
Problems: eating enough and at right time, injuries but nothing to serious (knocks on wood)

Age: 18
Goals: Gain a large amount of muscle, and cut down.
Time: 2 years(seriously 5 months)
Problems: Finding time to eat right and exercise regularly with school and a job.

Age 22
goals: Gaining muscle mass and strength for martial arts. Not bothered about a little extra fat.
time training - 2+ years,
problems - shift work, other hobbies.

Your age = 22.
Your goals = Become better at my sport - Rugby. (do you want to gain muscle, lose weight, compete, get better for sports etc.?)
How long have you been weight training? 4 Months with serious work, a year with some slight effort.
What is the biggest problem(s) you've had achieving your goals? Diet side of it without doubt.

Age: 16
Goals: To bulk up without adding much fat and to gain a lot of strength.
How long have you been weight training? 4 or 5 month with a strong effort, about a year or so before that.
Biggest Obstacles: DIET!! I can't seem to time the meals all that great and get everything I need to get in each one.

Age: 25
Goals: 180lbs, ~12% BF.
How long have you been weight training? Two years on and off haphazardly, just getting back into in properly this time after injury/illness lay off.
Biggest Obstacles: DIET!! Although thankfully I've employed the talents of someone more gifted than I in this department.
Why: Want to play American Football and not get crushed into the pitch.
