Shotput

I know, not quite weight training, but didn't know where else to put it. Anybody here a shotputter that wants to give me some tips? I'm currently #3 for my school and I need a boost. I throw 36' with a 12 lb shot. Haven't thrown in a year, but I think I'm already improved up to 40' at least (I learned how to be more explosive while on the other hand I was pretty passive last year,) plus I've put on some muscle. BTW I'm currently using glide as that's what our couch wants us to do.

Yeah I used to put for my school. Was good for my size. I used to practise with a weight twice as heavy as the shot. its all in your shoulders and triceps and legs.
 
I did shot put in highschool as well. Both of the above suggestions are great. I used to use a 24lbs cannon ball to practice with. I wish at the time I had the equipment to film myself. It would have helped my technique tremendously.
