Bulking and swiming

I am starting weight training again. My aim is to gain muscle mass.

I have an hour from 6.30am to train and an hour from 1.00pm.

I am wanting to swim and do weights at the same time.

2 Questions:

1) Are there any drawbacks to swimming and bulking at the same time??

2) Should I swim in the morning or afternoon? does it make any difference what order I do them?

Thanks

I'd rather see weight training done before cardio if at all possible. The big kicker here will be your caloric intake. Also, don't waste weight training time on junk training stuff (i.e. machines, and gimmicky items around the gym). Do what is necessary, and you should be happy with your results.

Okay so weights before cardio. Is this so that I can use as much energy as possible on my weights. Would I not have recovered by lunch anyway?

Only reason I ask is that I don't seem to feel as strong in the morning as I do later in the day. Am I okay doing weights at 6.30am after getting up at 5.30??

If this is the case then I will do weights in the morning and swim at lunch.

I want to do what ever is the most effective.

Prehaps I would be better doing weights morning and lunch (different groups each time) and leave swimming for another day????

Please can you give me more help.

Thanks for all your replies. They are all taken seriously and I am grateful.

yes

we say that you should do CV after your strength training, but if you have a 6hour break then it dont matter what order you do them.

If you want to gain muscle rather than loose fat then do more weight training than swimming, but if you wanna loose fat then do more swimming. If you feel stronger in the afternoon then do you weights then.

Remember that you wont be able to keep that up every day. stick to 3days a week for a few weeks anf see how you feel, then move up to 4 if your ready.

If you start on 5 days a week you'll hurt so much you'll prob end up quitting everything altogether.

good luck

from what i've heard, you're suppose to do cardio BEFORE weight training...

Well thats a bit silly. Who wants to burn fat and energy by running. Then have no energy to lift weights.

If you wanna lift heavy to build muscle you need plenty of energy to do it.

Thanks for the replies lads.

I think I'll start by doing weights in the afternoon four days a week (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat) and swim in the mornings (Tues Thurs Sat)

Thanks

You need rest days or you will not build muscle.
Your body needs to rest.

You would be better off doing weight training 3times a week, swimming 2 times and having 2 days rest.

Big 10-4 on that one.
