time in the gym

I workout at home, and it takes 60-90mins. I used to try to be in and out in one hour, but I've had to add to my workouts to develop my lumbar and stabilization support muscles, which added to my workout time. So, about 75 mins or so.

i try to go under 1 hour but sometimes i get close to the hour mark; if that happens i start doing supersets and triads working different body parts to save time.

I read on a web site that 47mins and over when weightlifting is supposed to be over training, true or false??

you cant say its overtraining, overtraining doesnt happen from one time in the gym, so id say false. Many people think that if they do to many sets one day they will be overtraining, but overtraining comes from doing that many times, for months.

. but its not good to spend to long in the gym, thats for sure.

its not overtraining after "about" 47 mins your body releases cortisol which uses muscle as energy, take a protein carb drink and your good to go .

I heard it is 47.56 minutes, but I am not sure. Haha, only kidding ya. It all depends on how you are training. What kind of volume and intensity are you using? Look, you could go to the gym and just stand around and talk like half of the people I see in there. Those guys could be there all day and never overtrain.

I get in there and get out. I train my ass off for 45 minutes or so. If I trained at this intensity for much longer, I would be overtraining my body.

Ive never heard of that before. i spend a bit over an hour in the gym, so if i after like 30 minnutes drink some carb thing? i usually take with me half a liter of oboy to the gym (no i cant buy protein shakes and stuff like that) it has lots of cals, carbs and some protein from the milk. I usually drink the entire bottle right after workout, should i drink some of it after 30 minnutes to stop this cortisol thing? if so, how much? if you need nutritional values of the oboy (chocholate milk) to answer that i can figure it out and post it.

i agree with stroutman: it all depends on the intensity of your workout but it would be a good idea to be out of there in less than an hour.

it also depends on your level of fitness.the longer you have been training the longer your body takes to release cortisol.
yes if you sip at your protein-carb drink this will help.

then ill definitly drink some of it after half an hour. been working out at a gym since october last year. worked out some at home before that though, but it was only noob stuff.. only decent exersice i did was pullups :p
