How to make the football team.

*topic*

I've been on the drumline for the better part of my academic career (since the 5th grade) and at the end of this past school year (freshman year in college) I decided I was bored with it.

So...I want to try and walk onto the football team.

I've had a brief foray into football before - my first high school back in Hawaii (military family) allowed me to play JV football and still be in the marching band. I played tight end and linebacker, two very demanding position, only because on the averge, with no negative connotations meant, I was naturally a lot bigger than the Asian majority of my teammates. I never really had to lift, run extra, or do any kind of special training to stay ahead. After transferring high schools, I had to make a choice, and after seeing how I stacked up to the football players in my new home town, I quickly went with band.

My body is nowhere near the athletic ability needed to make a Div I team like the one here at my university, but I want to try and get it that way over the next year and a half. Can anyone here give me some advice for training tailored towards what Coach is going to want to see out of me?

Once he's dried the tears from his laughter of course :p

Are you taking about Football or Throw ball?:D

Football Training

I've been playing football for years now, and have done everything in the book. Football training ranges from running on your hands and knees until you drop, to turning around quickly enough to catch the ball before it smashes you in the face for reflex conditioning. At your age and level on play, I recommend Sparq training. I've been to multiple training facillities, and they all incoorperate this type of training. You can get a basic idea of it at . Click on, "Training" on the top of the page, then click, "Sparq" for video on training tips. Good luck.

Re: Sparq drills

Vandy - that link for the sparq drills is awesome. I incorporated a bunch of the quickness drills into the jogging sections of my HIIT today. Thanks!

I go to Sparq training every Tuesday Thursday.
