Optical Illusions?

I'm not sure if this is the right section...but I want to know about something. When I look down at my calves or thighs, they seem super big but when I look at them in the mirror, they seem pretty decent sized. Is the mirror accurate for how I look or is looking without a mirror more accurate? Also, I want to know how many miles you can run a day without overtraining! Thanks in advance. :)

Ehhh, I've noticed mirrors are usually wrong because I always see myself different in them but meh, thats me.

As for how many miles you can run a day without overtraining, shouldnt really concentrate on distance but more on intensity, look around the forums and check out HIIT running.

What I myself do is, I run every morning, 5 days a week, 2 days rest. Usually for about 30 minutes. I don't focus on distance, just intensity and how long I've been running :x

yeah I agree with that. Set a time like 30 min. Start slow so you don't run into injury if you aren't used to it...but then try and compete with yourself. See how far you can do in 30 min and constantly try and beat it from the time before. That will yeild the best results. Overtraining is individual. What one person can do can't really compare to what another person can do. We're all at diff. levels of fitness and ability. Start where you are and increase intensity gradually.

As for mirrors. All the mirrors in my gym are different. I look totally different in each of them. I know when I look down at my thighs i'm looking down at the part that protrudes the most on my leg and then my leg tapers as it goes down. Its the angle you're looking down at. What people see is totally different than the angle you see. Don't worry.

Thanks for replying so quickly! ;)
I just usually run 1.5 miles at a time on the treadmill and today, I ran a total of 4 miles...so that's not too much for one day?

speaking of optical illusions: i notice when i turn sideways and look at the area below my butt and behind my thighs, i can see that "cottage cheese" a little bit, but when i stand completely straight (someone took a pic for me) i can't see it at all!.....is this on everyone? i mean i am still changing my diet and eating healthier and working out to avoid it, but just wondering :)
