I've never been on any of these types of drugs, so I don't really know, but I'd say talk to your doctor. Maybe there's something else they can prescribe you.

Lots of meds can cause weight gain, and it is often a side effect of anti-depressants in particular. Talk to your doctor. There are other types of meds, different doses, etc. Sometimes it takes a while to find just the right med with minimal side effects and maximum effectiviness. Good luck!

Please talk to your Dr. before discontinuing meds. I have a relative that thinks she is "just fine" off her meds; and she is NOT. Your Dr. and the experts on this forum can help you maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle. Good luck!!!!!:) :) ;)

Regardless of the type of your medication, the gain weight will happen.
My mom has been diagnosed with bipolar about 6 years ago. She had a huge weight gain over night but after few months everything went back to normal.
I dont think there is anything you can do at this moment but to try to eat healthy, exercise, go out for lots of walks.

You will learn how to deal with your illness, how medication react with your body and you will be fine.

Take care.

MY daughter was diagnosed and we went through several medications before we found the right one. You need to keep your doctor informed and he should work with you. Not all of these medications work the same on each individual.
Good luck.
