Effective way to gain strength

Whats a effective workout to gain strength?

Right now I'm doing 5 sets of 3&2, i.e: first rep is 3 next rep is 2 then that'll equal a set. I gain 2.5 lbs on each side each week, 5 lbs on each side for squat/deadlift.
I was wondering if there another work out that could gain strenth as fast with less work??

Why 5 sets of 3? Why not 5x5 or 3x8? Try changing your set/rep scheme and see how that affects things. What is your current routine and goals?

Changing things around always helps, one day do more reps, than the next, less. Some days more sets, and less reps. It will adapt your muscles to things like this, and it also triggers growth / strength gains.

For strength I like decending sets of 8, 5 and 3 with a max lift once a month. For growth I like decending sets of 12, 10 and 8. I am using a full body workout 3 days a week and aerobics every evening such as inline skating, tennis or DDR that I feel like it. Perhaps take a look at this and . They are pretty cutting edge for muscle science and challenge some long and widely held beliefs.
