Arlington Scottish Games pics

Alright. I'm back. Here are the pics as promised.

The Braemar stone. This is a 26# rock that you throw for distance.

The light hammer. This is a 16# hammer. It's basically a PVC pipe with a lead ball attached to the end of it. The goal is to throw it as far as you can.

The Sheaf toss. This is a 16# burlap bag filled with rope. You use a pitch fork to toss it as high as you can.

This toss didn't count cause it was outside the goal.

56# for height or WOB (weight over bar). Goal is similar to the sheaf toss. You toss a 56# weight as high as you can.

The 56# weight for distance. This is a 56# weight that's attached to a chain. The goal is to get momentum and throw the sucka' as far as you can.

The 28# distance. Same goal as the 56# but the weight is a lot less.

And finally the caber toss. Unfortunately Karl didn't get any pics of the actual toss. It took my third attempt to finally toss it over.

Welcome back !!! Must have been a heck of an experience. So, how did you do ??

Thanks. I can't wait 'til Sept. when I compete again. I'm freakin addicted. It took from 9:30-4 in the 91 degree outside. So, it was hot but it's absolutely, extremely badass.

I'll know on Tues exactly what my ranking was. I think I ended up placing pretty much in the middle.

Awesome pic's Evo :D Glad you had a Blast. Looks like a hell of a lot of fun. You have to post your ranking when you know.. Looking forward to the update. BTW Lovin' the Kilt ;)

Fun, my dear, doesn't even come close to desribing it. I'm so ready for Tulsa... I can taste it.

Aye, if I had known so many ladies liked the kilt before, I'd never have left the house without it on.:p

NICE! good stuff, I was waiting for those.;)

Thanks. :) I am now of the belief everyone should compete in something...PLing, OLing, throwing, track&field, any sort of sport. It's a very enlightening experience. ;)

Finally got the results. I came in 6th out of 10 over all.
Here is how I ranked in each event-
Braemar stone: 3rd place; 23'-8.75"
56# distance: 8th place; 15'-10"
28# distance: 4th; 38'-0.5" <--PR
16# hammer: 8th place; 64'-4.75" <--PR
22# hammer: 10th place; 40'-3"

caber:2nd (three guys got a 12:00, so technically there's 3 1st places and I would be in 2nd place); 1:00

The next two events there really isn't a placing for. It's kinda like with the caber.
sheaf: 18'. 6 of us made it 18'. Only 1 passed 18'.
56# height: I didn't even rank...I suck so bad at this event.

evo - nice work powerhouse. sorry ive been m.i.a., but im gonna try to increase the posts per day hahaha. if u on AIM tonight, gimme a shout.

Right you are! I throw discus, shot-put and javelin on my varsity highschool track team and I have an absolute blast! The raw power and technique needed are unbelievable. Those are some sweet pictures you've posted. Good job and congrats. :)
