Am i eating too little?

Wondered if i was eating too little and put myself into starvation mode. I;ve hit a brick wall in losing weight. I've always thought that to lose weight You just need to create a caloric deficit. But someone mentioned to me that i might be eating to little and forcing my body to store everything I eat as fat.

Here the stats : 5'10" 200 lbs, 28 yrs old

I usually run on the road, 2 miles in about 45 minutes. Elliptical trainer for 30 minutes or so, or raqcuetball for an hour or more. I do one of these no less than 5 days a week.

my diet consists of the following
Breakfast : Meal Replacement Bar
Lunch : Low Carb Wrap, Jello, 100 calorie wheat cracker package
Snack : Apple
Dinner : lean meat (chicken or beef) and broccoli
Dessert : Apple and Low Fat/Carb Granola Bar

This is usually about 1600-1800 calories.

Any help would be appreciated

I agree with wild, you need to eat more for sure. Do you weight train at all ? You need more protein in your diet. Eat some protein at each meal. You weigh 200 lbs, so you need a lot more than 1600-1800 cals a day. Eat more but be sure it is good stuff you are eating, Also drink lots of water.
 
Create a deficit yes, a huge one, no. For your activity level and size, you definitely need more calories. Get up to 2500, that should help you. Try some weight training also, that will help you lose weight.

Suggestions:
Breakfast-egg whites on whole wheat toast, glass of milk
Snack-Chicken breast or turkey sandwich
 
I did just recently start weight training. I also started taking ON 100% whey protein to add an extra 60g or so.

I think i could definately stand to eat more for my snacks and breakfast.

You're eating too much processed crap. HAve a bowl of oatmeal(the kind you have to cook not the instant crud) Slice an apple and some strawberies into it. That's way better for you than some bar that's full of all kinds of chemicals your body doesn't need.

Lunch : Low Carb Wrap, Jello, 100 calorie wheat cracker package

Jello is completely nutritionally void so why eat it? And again processed packaged stuff is poison get rid of it. How about a salad with roasted vegetables and a half of a small baked potato with a piece of turkey or chicken (Not deli meats; just more crap)

Snack : Apple

the best thing you've had all day add a dozen raw almonds to that

Dinner : lean meat (chicken or beef) and broccoli

Fine add some fish once in a while and make sure you get at least 3 different color veggies not just one

Dessert : Apple and Low Fat/Carb Granola Bar

How about a small serving of mixed berries or a melon wedge, drop the granola bar and have a piece of sprouted grain bread (Ezekial Breads are excellent) toasted with a little raw honey and a small glass of skim milk

i will only say what i have been hearing everyday for the last two months about my own diet, " you need to eat protien with every meal. protien builds muscle, and muscle helps u burn calories and fat."
so to anwser ur question a little better, maybe add eggs in the morning, and a protien shake somewhere?
