Post workout shakes

How important is a post workout shake? I seem to be getting good results without one but i keep hearing people stress that. Also what are some good kinds of shakes or recipes. Thanks!
 
It's a staple for me after EVERY training session.
 
Indeed, what LV said. A basic protein shake is helpful, in terms of recovery and repair and getting your body ready for the next workout. You can make your own, careful with weight gainers if you are trying to gain weight that is, a lot are loaded with fat and sugar- but there are some decent ones out there. A basic whey protein, concentrate or isolate (isolates are a little better) will work well for feeding your body.
 
ok but right now i am not trying to gain weight or bulk i am merely trying to cut fat while maintaining my muscle. I am currently doing HIIT training and lifting 2 or 3 times a week. Also what do you put in yours? Besides the whey protein and where would you get that?

All i have is the whey protein and I buy it at GNC. Supposedly online is cheaper, which I believe, but I just go to GNC.
 
I use Muscle Milk and Probolic-SR. I might be ditchin the Muscle Milk and justu stick to plain old milk (still a good muscle gainer)
