is that like gay?

That sounded gay, that's about it;) . If you want to tan go ahead and do it who cares what anyone thinks. I'm Italian so I have pretty much a perfect tan so I've never been. But if you want to tan, no, I don't believe it's gay.

Tanning can really mess up your skin in the long haul. You'll start getting wrinkles young as a result (unless you're mediterranean. I'm Portuguese, which is a little far-removed, but whne I get sun I tan like that >> snap <<)

Just don't tan too much, I know some girl that was obsessed with it and eventually really turned into a carrot for a while.

Everything in moderation!!! A little touch-up never hurt anyone but they way I see some people tanning is crazy! I do everthing to preserve my youthful skin....no wrinkles and leather skin for me! Not to mention melanoma and other skin cancers (which is on the rise mind you...)

i think you guys are getting me wrong i am not a tanaholic girl who goes every two days and i just started today! I am only going to go about 4 times to get ready for summer....

If you put it that way then no...it is not a big deal to "bronze up" for the summer. My boyfriend has done it as well as guy friends. The few times I did go tanning I actually saw more men there than women!!!

So go tan and be merry!

Just don't stay in the sun for lengthy periods. I had a very bad experience a few months ago.

I stayed on my back in the sun (it was about 30 degrees celcius with a VERY intense UV) and i had no sunscreen. Anyway, not long when i got home from the beach i was as red as you can - practically that dark red that looks like a sorta purple. Anyway, i was in alot of pain and had heat stroke as result which is also bad. I started peeling about a week later and it took about a full month for my skin to be back to normal again and even for weeks after that i had lines where all the skin had peeled off. Now i have a whole load of moles on my chest from the burn. Luckily they are only small and only noticeable close up anyway my point is - don't overdo it.

I'm whiter than paper.
