another bench question

sorry for asking so much about that technique stuff.
when i squeeze my shoulder blades together during the entire lift, i feel like im only lifting with my arms, its hard to explain, but its ALOT heavier than if i dont do it, is that the point? or have i missunderstood this?
im thinking about restarting the 5x5 and take a day first where i find all my 5 rep max with PROPPER technique as i was thinking i might get better gains with that since im now having serious troubble increesing my bench and bendt over row.

go for it. try 5x5 for 4weeks
then 3x10 for 4weeks
then 2 weeks of 10x3.
then have 2 weeks off.

I don't understand what you mean.

but its ALOT heavier than if i dont do it

?

I think it's going to be harder for a while if you've been lifting another way. It's like changing a shot in basketball.. you shoot worse for quite a while until getting better. Same with your bench, you won't be able to do as much.. but with the proper form.. it's safer and you can lift more than you could have eventually.

If you're asking if it's supposed to be harder.. no. But you've trained using a different form, so you're stronger with that motion than your new motion. But the technique isn't meant to be harder.

I started doing this as well, and it is harder. Feels like my tri's are fatigued quicker with my arms tucked.

yeah, ill just get the technique propper, ill probobly go down like 5-10kg atleast in my max bench, as it feels like im only using my arms now, as i have to use my back muscles to push the shoulderblades together at the same time i push my arms up.

squeeze your shoulder blades together? I've never done this on the bench (not sure if thsi is what your used to or if this is what you were told to start doing)
