1 quick question pls

hi i wanted to know if i could perform excersices which require bench (i.e bench press) whilst lying on the floor.

thx alot

It might be kind of hard because you can't go down all the way you could do anything like that standing up though.

Like already mentioned, you wont be able to do the full rep while on the floors because your elbows will hit the floor when on a bench, they can be brought down alot more to work other such as the back.

Why would you go down below 90degrees on the bench anyway. Most people knows that It releases tension and can damage leigaments

going past 90 damages you? I bring the bar down to touch my chest each time and it feels nice, doesn't damage or hurt me at all..

I still believe, as long as you're not 6 foot 3+, you should bring the bar down to your chest. If you can't completely do a movement without it hurting, you shouldn't be doing it at all. Especially not 1/2 way.

i agree with that too ! but also not letting it rest at the bottom on ya chest is important too :)

thx so much
but i asked my brother and he said u shouldnt do it on the floor thats why its called bench press :S

Well there should be a fist in between the bar and your chest for optimal range of motion at least thats what I learnt

i think thats for a pushup...i used to have a friend who would be benching so much but would never go down all the way, and he wasn't even 5'10" then i told him to go down all the way and he whined and said it hurt to much....so I think it's just personal preference really..

PS, I don't rest it on my chest, it stops there for a split second, touches and back up it goes

lol, i'd say no. how about you just get your brother to set a 45lb plate on your back while doing push ups? that way its a core exercise too.
