Pain in the shins

I've had some bone pain (like around where you'd have shin splints) that seems to be getting worse in this area.

I've cut out my calf work as I thought that would be the problem, but the pain hasn't lessened.

Anyone else that's had pain in this area from lifting or basketball?

weird bubble things?

I just heard about some other condition that feels a lot like shin splints, but isn't. Check around your calves and see if you have any weird little bubble-type bumps on your skin. I can't remember what the condition was called, but if you find one of those bumps, I'll find out for you.

Wish I could be more specific than 'weird little bubble-type bumps' but I don't know how to explain it.

Chances are you have an issue with your anterior tibalis (shin muscle). It needs to be stretched and/or strengthened. If your next question, is how do yuo strengthen it, Google the muscle and look for exercises.

As Standapart mentioned the best advice will come from a doctor, but remember with shin splints it is not always the muscle itself where the pain is, as the majority of the pain from more severe cases will come from under the muscle where it connects to the bone. Severe cases of shin splints can result in stress fractures of the bone.

The cure for shin splints is rest, but with all injuries it is best to consult a physician.

Muck, Go see a doctor rather than asking people on a forum.

How would that benefit me at all?

It's a mild pain that's inconsistent. I know it's from exercising, and I seriously doubt that's it's an 'injury' that needs to be evaluated to see the extent of it.

I'm looking to identify the exercise, and hoped someone here had something similiar. You think a doctor would be able to tell me that? Of course not. The doctor would prescribe an unnecessary treatment and give a blanket statement that involved not working out at all. I'd go back to working out later, not knowing what's causing it and have it return.

No thanks.

um yeah muck but if u have stress fractures then u need 2 c a doc because trust me there not fun when they get bigger !!! acctually it hurts like a B****
any way if ur not goin to listen to doctors when do u notice then pain the most???
and what leg exercises do u do and for how long ect...???

Pain's gone now and it doesn't hurt to touch my shins.

I guess it was the calf exercises causing the problems.

I'm surprised nobody else has had this happen, I must have wussy shin bones.
