% of max for bulking?

If I recall correctly the recommended rep range is between 6 to 8 per set. Of course, hypertrophy rep ranges are recommended btwn 36 and 50 per muscle group. However, keep in mind, when trying to gain size your routine is less than half the equation. The amount of calories you have in surplus is wat will allow you to grow.

I understand but does it matter what percent of your max it is if you can't do it for the recommended rep range. It is very easy to say you need to be working with 85% of your max for bulking. But if you only do it for 2 reps you are wasting your time. On the other hand if you are putting full effort into a lift for 6 or 7 reps I am willing to bet you are around 80% to 85% of your max.

yeah, when you can do 6-8 for enough sets that it makes like 30-40 volume, and after that, you cant lift anymore, you do it to failiure i think. then you are within the % of your max that you need to be for hyp.

You shouldn't train to failure every session though. Its hard on the CNS, and you'll end up having to take a week off from training sooner, rather than later.

Training to, or past failure (with a partner of course) is one of those 'occasional' techniques you use to trigger new growth. "Normal" training is sufficient to trigger growth as the body wants to be able to perform physical labor efficiently. Its when you get stuck at a certain poundage that you should pull out the so-called 'advanced' techniques like negative reps, forced reps, drop sets, etc.

Well I've no idea what ANY of those are malkore.

=P

But thanks.
