Oh my God!!!! This website is awesome!!! how many cool people and cool topics!!! And everybody is having this scales that show the movements of weight loss! I got one too:)

Hi everyone!!! I really hope to find a nice company here, share my story and get motivation. I have all hopes gone...Since I moved in the US three years ago I gained 60 pounds!!! in just three years! And whatever I try - no working...:( I even bought Hydroxycut two days ago which, after going to the doctor, I'm scared to take...

So I'm hoping with all my heat that this website and all the nice people will inspire me to believe in myself again.

Starting right now! .... Hmm...starting what?...diet? sports?what diet?what sports?...well....I guess one step at a time:)

:waving: Forgot to say. I'm 26, I live in Saint Louis, MO - originally Russian. Work in IT. No family. I am engaged for a long time but temporary have remote relationship and very lonely here. (Just moved and don't know anyone:( )

I'm sorry for my bad English - time to time I might talk nonsence:willy_nilly:

I'm frustrated. Every day when I'm at work I'm thinking that as soon as I go home, I'll go for a run or walk or swimming...And here I am sitting on my couch for the last 2 hours...:(((
HELP!!!

In regards to what you should do, you'll probably find the best results if you change your diet and add exercise. Is there a gym near you that you can go to? Sometimes seeing all those people working out who probably look like you (or even befriending some of them) can give you even more motivation to do it. Personally, when I'm having trouble getting the motivation, I remember how great I feel the rest of the day after I worked out and that'll get me off my butt.

But, in the end, only you can get yourself to get up and do it. Do it for yourself - to feel better and look better!

Good luck!

Thank you SportObsessive for your reply!!! YEEEAAAHH!!! I"m so happy!! Someone is reading my diary:waving:
You are so right, I remember I was going to the gym and it felt so good coming back with this light feeling....The only problem for me is to make myself go...But I will!!!!
I'm so tired of thinking and thinking and thinking of weight loss so much more that actually doing it!
I'll also go any my measurements tape and weight scale!:hurray:
My frog will start moving soon!!!!

I'm not sure, should I start any particular diet or start counting calories or just cut off bad foods?
This is, for example, what I ate today:

Breakfast: didnt have cause had to go take a blood test.

Lunch: Subway sandwich (still regret) but it was wheet bread, no cheese, weggie patty, so not bad I think..

Dinner: 4 pieces of bologna, one boiled egg.

Was also drinking water all day...

This might seem like a very littlr food for many people, but if I eat any more (even vegetables!) Ill start gaining weight!!! So now, I'm scared of any food...

A Subway sandwich, eaten like that, probably isn't that bad (I don't know what meat you had on it, though).

You still need to eat a good amount of calories. One place a lot of people here suggest is FitDay.com. I haven't tried it yet, but probably will next week. This will keep track of the amount of calories you consume and give you advice on how to improve your habits. When you start working out, it's going to be even more important to eat more than you're eating now.

What you eat is all about personal preferences. Personally, I don't like any certain "type" of diet. Eat fruit, vegetables, meat, limit the amount of carbs you eat, and watch calories, and you should be fine.

Thanks:)
Ok, it is already dark outside, but I will still go and check the gym right here in my apartment complex. It is really small, but even 1 machine would be a good start!

I did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

30 minutes on a treadmill and some exercises on my arms! It is something for the first day! YEAAHHH

On my way back I though: I'm setting wrong goals... Every time i would be on a diet, I would set a time period: lets say: 14 day diet. So the goal is - to be on it 14 day...And the result is - how much you lose...What I NEED it to set the WEIGHT goal - not the days!!! And days whould be a result....oh.....day's can not be a result....hmmm....I confused myself..Day would be...be..need to learn more English I guess...ANYWAY, My goal is 120 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not days!!! (But I would love it ASAP;))

Hey !!!

You are doing great so far ! The biggest step is actually deciding to do it ;)

I agree about getting a free FitDay.com account. I have one and it is a great way to track you calorie intake, as well as see your nutritional information and what types of foods you are lacking or have too much of.

It also helps monitor weight and body measurements.

The sticky threads on this forum are GREAT and have a whole lot of information that helped me in my first legs of weight loss.

Also do searches on the internet about BMI, daily caloric needs, BMR....this may give more insight to what your body needs to run, and what it needs to lose in a safe timeframe. I found also that a safe weight loss goal is to lose no more than two pounds a week....research the concept of "starvation mode" that your body can go into if you lose too much too fast.

other websites I liked off the bat: caloriesperhour.com, freedieting.com they both have some cool calculators to help determine your body type.

or if you want to go extreme like I did....you can go through your kitchen and throw out all the food that is unhealthy....and give away your couch and put a weightbench and elliptical machine in it's place...:) (yes....I did). I also gave myself a realistic goal of 100 pounds in one year.....

Welcome to the forums !!!! We are all rooting for you !!

I just looked at your photo album, and you are beautiful now, even before you are starting.....so you have an advantage.......:blush5:

let us know if you have any other questions.....there is a lot of knowledge to be had here.....it has helped me immensely.

Hey Artmonster!
Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by!!! You lost so much already! you are doing GREAT! Thanks for all the information, it is really helpful. I've been really rfustrated these days, but i think i know what do to for the beginning at least!
I'll go and check out fitday.com right now! (Secretly cause I'm at work, lol)

I almost ate nothing today and alredy had 400 calories! (just checked from fitday.com). Oh man....And I set the goal of 700 max 1000!
That sucks...

Yikes !!!

Are you sure about 1000 calories a day max? that seems way way too low.

check out this calculator to give you a ballpark for healthy calorie deficits:

You may be suprised on actually how many calories you need to consume to stay healthy and yet still lose weight safely.

Also the harris benedict chart here is useful for targeting:

I hope that helps a little ;)

Oh that calculator it say for me: 1296 Calories/day for fat loss.

But because i'm russian and grew up with much less foods because we have a little different standards there i need about 1000 here in the US, otherwise - big problem!!!!!

But if I feel i need some more - I will intake more...I don't want to get sick.

It is really lonely to live alone and do it all alone....:(

Work sucks sucks sucks SUCKSSSSSS!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa

I'm going to lose my job soon...I'm a contractor and my project is canceled:( when it's almost done.... They changed their plan....F@#%!

But my blood test turned out to be good which is much more important!!!!

Lately I've been worried alot: job, money, health, green card application, being alone...I'm scared that I'll get a depression (my doctor thinks I already did, but I dont listen)... I need to find a way to get these thoughts out of my head and not worry, at least for things i can not control.... I'm so tired of all this b$$%sh%%T

Anyway, back to my diet! I created account in fitday.com - it is really awesome! I also got a 2 week trial membership for Bally fitness...so I'll drag myself there today...just want 10 more mins rest from work....
I'm not looking forward to go there, but i HAVE TO! I wish i would buy everything and set in the house, but it is rental and if i lose the job i'll have to get a new one and more...and whoi knows where its going to be and for how long...so...not buying stuff any more...

Wow.

I agree with artmonster. You'd be really surprised that the MINIMUM calorie intake is around 1200.

Check out this calculator:

It's a more comprehensive calculator and gives you options for how much weight you want to lose per week (safe maximum weight loss= 2lbs/week)
:)
Thanks for stopping by my journal, I really appreciate it!

Best of luck with your weight loss journey!
And remember: 2 pounds a week, tops!
:waving:

Hey, thanks!

I went to this calculator:
Nutrition requirements
A. To maintain current weight:1854 cal
B. To lose weight by 1 kilograms pounds per week

754 cal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This one is even less!!!! And 1 kg a week is like 2 pound a week which, as I read ere on this website is normal...

Well, lets see...

I FINALY went to the gym, worked out on tredmill and lifted some weight and even went for 5-10 min of swimming!!!!

When I came back I was dying for food (had only 550 cal in all day) so I ate Spacial K cerial with fat free milk! It was soooo gooooooddd...

I'm happy now with the day and going to sleep soon!

THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO WROTE IN MY DIARY - I DIDNT QUIT THANKS TO YOU AND WAITED ALL DAY FOR THE EVERNING TO SIGN IN AND READ OW IS EVERYONE!
