Hi, my name is Novaleigh and I want to lose weight.

I have been to other weight loss forums before but I have always felt uncomfortable and felt like I was a nuisance for just asking a simple question. I have come here with the hopes that I can successfully receive the support I have been in need of.

Now, a little about me!

Well, as you know my name is Novaleigh. I am a 17 year old high school student. I have never had a problem with my weight until recently when I began to have joint problems and pain, especially in my ankles. After I had to quit dancing (and took my final PE class) I began to gain weight slowly but steadily. I really took notice when I weighed myself and found that I was about 30 pounds heavier than I had been before. I have already made the change in eating healthier and not drinking as much soda. (I still have a soda here and there but it’s only a couple a month I believe.) I jst need to get my act together and get moving.

I’m really excited to be here and can’t wait to get to know you guys!

great start... slow gradual changes are the key to success... then.. once you get those down time to start adding more, as your confidence and will grows then you can go even further... Jumping into something full blast usually doesn't work unless you got iron will, or some serious testicular fortitude :)

Hey Novaleigh, I'm new at the boards myself and saw you were around my age (I'm 19) so I just thought I would say hi. :) Good luck with your weight loss goals!

Welcome to the boards.

Be sure to check with a doc in regards to the pain in your joints and ankles. once he gives ya the all clear, be sure to find something that is fun and that you will stick with.

:waving:

Heya Nova, welcome to the forums!

Don't feel bad about asking questions here, that's what the forum is for! And I too suggest you start a weight loss diary to keep track of your habits, both good and bad. :)

Have a good time. :D

Thanks everyone! I'm glad to be here. I think I may start one of thoes diary things. It may help me...If I can remember to write in it.

Well anyways, I just took a hot bath and now I'm all pruney. So, I'm going to go pick up my man from work and go to his house for a bit

Bye everyone!

Hi Novaleigh (cool name!)

I'm sorry you had a bad experience on other boards. You won't find any negativity here. Tough love at times, but I've found EVERYONE to just be amazing to one another. You can ask all the "dumb questions" you want, cause nothing is dumb if it concerns getting healthy, right?

I so understand your predicament. I worked with an freshman acting student last year who used to be in dance line at her high school. The change to a more sedentary college lifestyle put weight on her (although she was still so gorgeous.) It was very disturbing to her, but you know what? I just saw her a few weeks ago and she looks fabulous. I don't know what she weighed before, but she is now a very tight but curvy beauty. So there are happy endings! (I hope for old gals like me, too!)

Anyhoo, welcome, welcome. And have fun!

Colleen
