Your moment of wow.

We all need them on this trip we call weight loss. These moments of wow are moments where you realize a change due to that weight loss. Some are big, some are small, all are meaningful.

I had my first real one today. It was a few weeks ago when I bought this cool new shirt. It fit on my 400 pound frame. Unfortunately, Amy shunk it in the wash, to the point the buttons were straining when I put it on. I had put it in the back and forgot about it. this morning, I slipped it on not remembering why I didn't wear it recently. Amy had to tell me that the shirt didn't fit before. The shirt now is almost good enough to wear to work now. There is just one button that seems a little tight sitting down, but standing it fits nice.

all I can say is WOW

Let's hear some of yours!

This year my mom pulled out an old skirt of hers that she wore back into high school. I looked at it and was thinking "there's no way that would ever fit me". But lo and behold, it fit!

Meanwhile, while I don't fit into my old high school jeans, I do have other clothes from my college days that actually fit me again. It's pretty amazing.

Congrats on the shirt fitting. It's milestones like that that keep us motivated.

Some that I remember were:
The first time somebody, who didn't know I was on a diet, noticed I was losing weight.
Taking up notches in my belt, then punching new holes.
Tried on a sports coat that was in my closet for about 20 years since the last time I could wear it, and it fit.
Going from XL shirts, to L, then to M.
When I finally had to get new pants because the old ones wouldn't stay up without a belt.
Was able to take my ring off and back on. It had stayed on my finger for many years. I thought my knuckle was swollen or something, but it turned out that it was just fat fingers.
When I went from obese BMI to overweight. That was a big one.

My mom bought herself a pair of jeans, then decided that they were 'too young' for her to wear. She sent them to me, telling me that they were kinda tight on her, and too long in the legs. My mom always used to be about half my weight, so I wondered why she was bothering to send those jeans.

Got them today, put them on, they fit. I now wear HALF of my original jeans size. Used to be 36, now 18 (UK size).

Wow.
