Your favorite kick butt exercise music?

My iPod is currently suffering from an overload of "mellow" music...which is what I usually listen to most of the time. BUT, it does me no good when I'm trying to keep my energy level going for cardio. So my question to everyone is, what are your fave songs/ artists that really get you going when you're exercising? Any category!

id check the fave music thread down in the off topic section. myself.. mostly metal

Arg...I thought I had looked everywhere for a similar thread. Sorry! (I know duplicates are annoying.) Thanks for the tip Big D :)

Calling Dr. Love by Kiss also Shinedown has some good songs other groups I like are: Cage the Elephant, Buckcherry, Disturbed, AC/DC, Black Label Society, Black Sabbath

Thanks for the tips everyone! I'm laughing at the visual of me listening to heavy metal...my fave music is 70's folk. LOL...but I definitely need to kick it up a notch!

Songs that get me moving:

Best Things by Filter
Song 2 by Blur
Step Up (I'm On It) by Maylene and the Sons of Disaster
I Don't Wanna Be in Love by Good Charlotte
Faster by Jules X
Supermassive Black Hole by Muse
Uprising by Muse
Hysteria by Muse (can you tell I like Muse?)
Stockhom Syndrome by Muse
Discipline by Nine Inch Nails
Blue Monday by Orgy
Smack My Bitch Up by Prodigy
Doomsday Clock by Smashing Pumpkins
Black Betty by Spiderbait
Dirthouse by Static-X

Enjoy. :)

I tried lifting weights to Dragonforce & Sonata Arctica before and I about herniated myself LOL. Its good for cardio tho.

You guys rock! I love powermetal but never worked out to it - too manic!

For me? Muse! Their beats are always great for running. And Blood/Sugar by Pendulum.

for lifting, lately I've been listening to a lot of Crowbar and Swansong era Carcass. it has the pace and tone I'm looking for. AC/DC works in a pinch too.

actually, AC/DC would be a good suggestion. Its relatively high energy and mindless, makes for good background.

Yvette: for more funny imagery, take my music choices into consideration then picture me when I used to play Big Band Jazz. Became a great sight gag for a while, I'd walk out with an obvious 'metal guitar' and then bust out some Count Basie or Glen Miller.

Looks like I'll have to try some muse...since more than one person recommended it. Thanks for the nice big list CopperBoom! I have a couple of those songs already and agree with you.

Big D- that's too funny! Big Band jazz and metal...it's a winning combination! LOL

I seem to need a constant stream of new music all the time!

I have taken to googling "mash up" and then the name of whatever artist and seeing what comes up.

Some fantastic djs/groups I have found are DJ Earworm, DJ Greg J, G4Gorillas, DJ Maggie Mash....I love finding new stuff though just wish there was more of it!

Love Muse- Muse RULE!

That'd better not be a cover of Def Leppard - Hysteria. If so, I'm going to find this "Muse" band and then piss in all of their mouths.

No worries Chef- I listened to it and it's definitely NOT a cover of the Def Leppard. I'm sure Muse will be pleased that you don't have to piss in their mouths ;)

I listen to alot of Def Leppard..lol

Kinda funny but their music motivates me to stay on machines longer and helps with my endurance too.

They should consider themselves lucky. I've been drinking water non-stop just in preperation.

My ym music is different than my normal tastes

Oddly, I don't find my energy kicking up enough when I'm listening to music I always listen to- unless it's new to me, like Swoon by Silversun Pickups. I don't listen to Top 40 but much of it has a great beat when I'm walking fast or working hard on the elliptical. I just bought these songs and they are really working at bumping my exertion and drive (the cardio part) up a few notches:

My new stuff from iTunes:
Sober-Pink
Paparazzi- Lady Gaga
Since U Been Gone- Kelly Clarkson
Miss Independent- Kelly Clarkson
No One- Alicia Keys
Single Ladies- Beyonce
Empire State of Mind- Jay-Z w/ Alicia Keys
I Kissed A Girl- Katy Perry
Tik Tok- Ke$ha
Makes Me Wonder- Maroon 5
Hard- Rihanna

Also already in the collection:
The Real Slim Shady- Eminem
Get Into the Groove- Madonna
Back To Life- Soul II Soul
Edge Of Seventeen- Stevie Nicks
The Way You Move- Big Boi/Outkast
Glamorous- Fergie
New Year's Day- U2
Two Hearts Beat As One-U2
Bring Me To Life- Evanescence
Now That We Found Love- Heavy D
Rock Your Body- Justin Timberlake
Spiralling- Keane
Harder To Breathe- Maroon 5
Not Coming Home- Maroon 5
No More Drama- Mary J. Blige
Steady As She Goes- The Raconteurs
The Rolling People- The Verve
3 A.M. Eternal- KLM

Whoa! Got carried away! I love making mixes for my iPod! OK so much of the stuff I already had is what I listen to anyway, like The Verve, U2, Maroon 5, Keane.....

Music, for me, makes all the difference between a great or not-so-great workout! :jump:
