That quote (Benjamin Franklin) was what really put some things into perspective for me. I've been an on and off health nut and fitness freak for the last 6 years of my life, and this year, I finally started to see a breakthrough. I started by throwing a consistent work-out plan into the mix of things to get my cardiovascular system into tip top shape. I started by working out 5 days a week (trying to keep cross-training in mind), but I often found myself doing Step Aerobics, as it is most enjoyable for me. I was also doing weight training about 3 days a week, but I've slacked off of that for the last 2 months. Anyway, since June, I haven't had a problem with keeping my work-outs consistent. My problem is that I have been living with horrible eating habits since a young age, and it seems that I have a really hard time breaking them. So what I started doing, since putting it right in front of my face is very helpful, is writing down what I eat and when I eat it. I make sure that I'm brutally honest about what I've consumed throughout the day. There's nothing more depressing, and hopefully motivating (it's working for me), than seeing with your own eyes that you have a major overeating problem. My only problem isn't that I eat a lot, it's that I eat way too quickly. I was hardly tasting my food, so I worked up a plan to kill that habit, as well. I try to count the amount of times I chew each piece of food (trying to get up to 20 chews per piece), and also, putting my fork down between bites and drinking a lot of water. The water should deplete hunger and shrink your portion sizes. I've also been a vegetarian for 3 years and vegan for 1 year, and I recommend it to anyone who really wants a leg up on healthy dieting.

I've only lost 30 pounds, gained 10 back, and lost it again (water weight), and I plan on losing much much more. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication and time to reach this goal, but it insures life-long benefits. And who doesn't want to have a sexy, healthy body?

By the way, my name is Autumn, and I'm only 17, but if anyone wants to trade ideas with me, I am willing to listen and help!

No one has responded to my post. Sniff... sniff.

Patience, now, sometimes it takes longer than an hour for people to respond to posts. :jump:

That being said... welcome to the forum. :hat:

Sounds like you are already off to a good start. If you've gone vegan, I hope you are making sure you get enough protein. Me, I'm a card carrying member of the Carnivore Club... I tried the vegetarian life for a bit, couldn't handle it. I even worked for a vegetarian magazine for a while a number of years ago. Still, if it works for you, run with it!

What type of exercise are you doing?

Sorry about that... I just noticed that the two posts after mind were responded to, and I thought maybe my post wasn't up to par! Ha ha. I've never posted on this forum before.

Yes, I definitely am. I'm very well researched and my mother is also vegan! There will be no changes in my current diet. I love veganism. :)
That's really interesting (the magazine)!

I do a lot of aerobic exercises, walking, sometimes on the weekend I do an alternation of walking/jogging/sprinting and yoga to stretch out!

The vegetarian magazine was just one of the publications that company put out. I worked on all of them. But I was there at the beginning of it.

Have you considered weight lifting in the mix of things you do?

Yes, actually, I was doing 3 days a week, tackling all muscle groups. Not too much weight or many reps, but enough for a novice like myself! I've recently been slacking, but I was actually just talking about starting to do it regularly again.
