Sport yogurt

what do you guys think about fat free unsweetened yogurt with breakfast? I know it has a decent amount of sugar but it's also pretty high in protein.

this is the one I have been eating-

thats what i add to my breakfast in the mornings, taste great calcium and good bacteria. Try adding blueberries with it.

But wouldn't fat free yogurt be the same as skim milk... just in yogurt form? Also, I don't think that this has any sugar added, at least it doesn't taste like it has any, because it is pretty bitter. Does this change anything?

I honestly wouldn't dump that in my body. Fat-free anything means "we took out the fat and replaced it with worthless ****."

Although that is often true, with dairy products, it often just means that they are made with skim milk. Skim milk plain yogurt will have the sugars from the milk (either lactose or the broken down sugars after bacterial action), but should not have any added sugars.

But check the label to make sure that nothing bad has been added.

I recommend the blender for a quick shake.

Yogurt (plain), mixed frozen berries, banana, apple, and whey protein (optional). Blend it for about a minute, pour in cup, enjoy.

i actually recently found an organic fat-free plain yogurt that has 8grams of carb (6g sugar - all from milk) and 14 grams of protein. Just as good as fat free cottage cheese for protein source.

Which brand is that? Pretty much all the yogurts I find are 4:1 sugar/protein.

hmm it says "liberte" (with accent on the last e)

i think it's from Quebec. I live in Toronto so it might be something local.
i'm not sure though

The label of some plain skim milk yogurt that I have lists 17g of carbohydrate and 14g of protein per serving. (Trader Joe's European Style Fat Free)

I can easily see sweetened flavored yogurts having 4:1 sugar: protein ratio, but plain yogurts are more typically less than 2:1.

If I were you, I would stay away from yoplait altogether. It's loaded with lots of artificial stuff. It looks nice, and they boast about it's weight loss benefits, but it's not all it's cracked up to be. It is true, fat free is different than skim. Skim may have traces of fat, but keep in mind, not all fat is bad and not all saturated fat is bad either.

Yoplait uses lots of stabilizers and such to give the fat free a creamier texture. I'm not sure if I'd want to eat all of that stuff. Definitely don't go for the sweetened yoplait, they use high fructose corn syrup.

I switched from yoplait to Trader Joe's yogurt. I eat the cream top kind, but if fat is a concern for you then get the skim. If you don't have a Trader Joe's in your area, then look for any natural/organic yogurt that is unsweetened or fat free.

Yes, yoplait comes in a pretty container and it comes with that little "best life" stamp of approval. But there are better options.

And, you're not going to find any true sugar free yogurt that has no grams of sugar. Keep in mind, lactose is a sugar too. You will only find unsweetened.
