Yogurt?

Curious about yogurt ... i eat yoplait light yogurt it has almost 14g of sugar in it ... i like to keep most sugars out of my diet ... i eat yogurt b/c i have acid-reflux tummy problems and yogurt helps keep my tummy happy. I'm confused though ... i know plain yogurt is the best kind but all the plain i see at the store has twice as much sugar in it as the strawberry that i eat? Does anyone know why this is so or if i should still switch to plain, etc? Thanks! :)

Wow, I never noticed that about plain yogurt. Have you tried cottage cheese? It may have the same effect on your stomach.

I don't think that some sugar effects all that much on your diet. The most important part of you diet is to eat lots of veggies, whole grains and other fiber rich foods, enough fluid and balanced amount of different fatty acids. With these things right, I think you don't have to worry about such little things.

Hope I helped,

What kinds of yogurt are you comparing there with high sugar on plain? I know that on low fat or no fat they frequently replace the fat with sugar to give it a similar consistency, the flavoured ones usually have natural sugars, plus the berries or other fruits take up some volume so they don't need to add as much sugar.

I know around here if you go to the hippie health stores they have pure yogurt with like no sugar, still would be made with whole milk likely though so then you've got higher fat. Really can't win for trying sometimes.
