yoga?

My doctor diagnosed me with and anxiety disorder. He tried putting me on an anti-depressant. Everyone i've talked to said anti-depressents are very "bad" and i shouldnt definatly not take them.

However this anxiety problem i have is starting to drive me and everyone around me insane, i need to do something. Does anyone know if yoga would be any help. i've never done yoga and really have no idea what its about.

Are there any yoga participants out there? or if anyone has any other ideas of how to relieve anxiety...open to suggestions
 
I took a "hot" Yoga class for about 3 months before I moved out of that area. It was wonderful. You don't realize how much you're actually doing. It's quite the work out but the way it ends, you are so relaxed when you leave you just want to sleep. It's wonderful. I just started Yogalates 3 weeks ago. It's a combo of yoga and pilates. It's not as relaxing because of all of the abs work, but it does leave you feeling very relaxed. A lot of it deals with breathing which definitely would help. I think you should try it. Even if you just try a dvd/vhs, it'd be worth it. Other ideas would be meditation or hypnosis tapes. I have a friend who used hypnosis tapes and she said they worked. They make them for almost everything, even weight loss. You just listen to them before you go to sleep and they help with lots of different problems. I guess if you went to amazon or something you could look around and find something good. But go for the Yoga at least...good luck
