Yoga DVDS

I've picked up yoga DVDs in the past and they all seem a bit too advanced (even the ones labeled beginner) Anyone have any good beginner Yoga DVD suggestions? Sorry maleficent if there's already a thread on this. I tried searching :Angel_anim:

I have absolutely no coordination at all.. so dvd's don't work for me...

My sister in law is a yoga instructor... and her advice to me when I was asking about yoga (I wanted it more for flexibility purposes than anythig else - I don't get the whole be in the moment thing) Was to forget the dvds for a while and get yourself a book that explains each position (rodney Yee has several good books out) and master the positions.

and master each position before moving on to the next.

Once you get the positions down then go back to the dvd's - if you want.. or just do xxx amount of each position at certain intervals...

I thought about doing that but as far as my learning curve I'm definitely more of a visual person. Pictures just don't seem to work for me. I guess I need to see the actual movement...going into the position transitioning into a new one etc. I want to do Yoga for the same reasons. I want to increase my flexibility as I've accepted the fact I will never be centered and will always be a stress case.

take a beginners class... you should be able to find some cheap classes thru Learning Annex... then when you have the moves down - move on to a dvd..

Or thru your cable provider - go thru some of the exercise on demand and see what appeals to you.. or if you've got netfix - The Gaiaim Dvds are the most yoga-ish and focus on the whole yoga mindset...

I personally find most exercise dvd's useless because they do not break stuff down and explain it like a book or a human being can... you might also look at youtube and see if there' anyhing there...

If you're more of a Visual person, you could always try to see if the named stretches/exercises on the Yoga video are demonstrated at TrainWithMeOnline.com, they have hundreds of exercises all with video's of how to do them.
