G'day all,

My name is Leigh and I'm brand new to this site. I'm 21 years old, male and from Australia.

Years ago I was slim and a little muscley, as I'd played a lot of rugby and cricket back at high school. Now I've been in the workforce for three years and it's suddenly dawned on me that all I have to show for it is a big fat gut and stretch marks to accompany my financial success.

So I decided to search up weight loss forums and this is by far the best I've found. I have been reading through everyone inspirational tales of success and enjoying seeing people give support when some of us find it difficult to stick to the weight loss plan.

As I've read through a lot of before and after journey photo posts I've noticed a bit of a recurring theme... - regret! Regret when those who've made such a big improvement in their lives and healths and they've forgotten to take photos of before, during and after!

So before starting on my weight loss journey I took plenty of photos to compile with my efforts and my final result. I hope to inspire others as I have been inspired.

My current statistics

Height: 178 cm (5'9" I think)
Weight: 96kg (211 lbs approx from my calculations)

Starting weight: 110kg (242lbs approx)

Goal weight: 72kg (158lbs approx)

Sorry if I'm a bit off with the old style measurements, in Australia everything's metric and it's all I've known growing up.

Anyway nice to meet you all and I can't wait to read more of your success stories and contribute mine in a few months!

- Leigh

Welcome to the forum leigh :)

it doesn't take long to adapt to converting to pounds

What is your plan for weight loss ?

Well I basically have cut fatty food out of my diet completely. For the last couple weeks I have been vegetarian (no reason except for lack of lean meats being around me).

I've been doing hard cardio for 1-1.5 hours 5 times a week with going swimming and taking a sauna 3 times a week. Also after I'm warmed up from the cardio I jump into the weights and do a full body workout, focusing on what isn't sore from previous exercise lol.

I should perhaps add that 5 days ago I started on Duromine (active ingredient "Phentermine") not sure what its marketed as in the USA.

This drug (for me, everyone can have different results!) has been fantastic and completely instrumental to my progress.

Thanks to the phentermine I have boundless energy, am walking to and from the gym each time I go (45 min walk each way) and can't stand the thought of eating anything greasy or deep fried. Since I started on the drug I've eaten only fresh fruit, vegetables and the occasional non-buttered slice of toast. It's amazing to turn healthy cold turkey and feel as if you can stick to it as part of a "New You".

Any more questions I'd be happy to chat!

Welcome to the forum, Leigh. Make sure you are getting enough protein and essential fats - the good kind like fish, nuts, or olive oil - in your diet. It seems like you are only eating carbohydrates.

Hi Leigh! Welcome!

Congrats on your success and motivation :)

The only things I'd throw in in terms of diet and exercise would be to make sure you're getting adequate protein (along with your carbs) as suggested above (you'll be losing some muscle mass while you lose fat, so the protein will help you in maintaining your current muscle mass), and to maybe reverse your order in which you do your full body workouts and cardio. You'll get more out of your full body workouts if you can go at them first, and then finish off your workout with your cardio. I know if doesn't feel natural (that's how I used to do mine, too), but it really does make the most sense. Or you could switch off days so you can focus more one at a time (one day FBW, the next day cardio).

I agree with you, this is by far the best weight loss forum out there, I'm glad to be here, too :)

Good luck!

Lizabell

P.S.- my name is Leigh as well :)

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad you are doing well so far. The only thing I'm going to say right now is becareful about the Duromine. There has been cases that Duromine has some very serious medical side effects for longer term, mainly heart disease.

I'm sure your doctor is monitoring you so I do wish you luck and we will be supporting you!
