:waving: Hey all!

I'm Jess, 25 from Australia but currently living in London.

I'm roughly 154 pounds (apprx 70kgs) and would love to be getting down to around 62kgs (136) to start with! I'm only 5'3" so yes, quite a shorty...

Basically, I just want to get the motivation that I lack to make myself feel better...I want to like exercise, which I certainly don't like now! I want to feel good - healthier - happier and not be contstantly plagued by the weight devil! :reddevil:

I'd love for any tips, advice, or a general good luck from people, as I believe that the main reason I havent been successful in hte past is due to lack of motivation on my part and lack of support (or people pushing me into it!) along the way!

Hey Jessi welcome aboard (I want to go to Australia one day and never come back)
and good luck with your goal.

I just started mine as well. Granted I have a lot more to lose then you but for me the most important thing for me to stay on track is reminding myself why I am doing this. I want to be healthy, I want to go outside and not die second I go outside on a hot day and I just want to be happier because my old routine is/was not working for me

I think the breaking point for me is my eating habits, you got to start at the begining.

I've been told to be eating up to 4-5 times a day, now it seems like a lot, but you got your breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks inbetween. I used to eat once maybe twice a day a large meal and it has caused me to hold onto a lot more weight.

So I started with eating healthy smaller meals throughout the day and I feel a lot better. Drink lots of water, I've been told and found to be true that sometimes when you feel hungry, you are just thirsty.

I am working on my sleeping pattern now, its really messed up and I know its affecting the way I digest food and generally feel throughout the day(this is the hardest change for me because I love sleeping lol)

And then exercise, I started going for bike rides, I am planning on picking up a cardio machine soon for home use(its winter half the year and I am no way going to the gym in the winter)

Those are the 3 things for me that have held me back from my potential.

I think just browsing these forums has helped me want to do more as well. It always nice to read success stories and see peoples progress on something that you are dealing with as well.

At the end of the day, only you know what is right for you, it certainly helps to talk about it but you need to make a commitment. Eating proper food and knowing how much food you eat throughout the day is important.

EDIT: and you are not that short, my sister is 4"11 lol

also wanted to say what has been keeping me on track is writing everything I eat throughout the day so I know exactly how much I am consuming. It helps because if I have to write it down. I am less likely going to want to get something bad because well I don't want to say I ate fast food or I ate anything greasy etc.

Wel..l u are a little shorter then me, lol, I am 5' 3" & 3/4 lol. Good Luck to You!! As I push myself I will try to give you a push along the way. Start your diary! :seeya: around.

Goooooooood luck! :). I share the fact that it is so hard to get motivation, used to gym everyday and now I'm lucky to go once a week!
You could perhaps try exercising with friends? squash or something? ;p That would make it funner and you'd forget its actually exercise so you'd be more motivated to do it!
My main weakness is chosing what foods to eat, i mean who would want a salad instead of a chocolate cake!?
GOOOD LUCK! ;) x

:)

Thanks for your replies everyone! Its nice to know there are people out there willing to help me (metaphorically speaking!) along the way..

My weakness is chocolate... why do they make it so yummy? :) lol

I dont think its so much the foods I eat are bad, its the exercising part that I'm terrible at! I would much rather come home from work and sit on front of hte tv than make myself get changed and go out for a walk/job or anything physical of the sort! But NO..... this will end TODAY and I have to make the effort to change, because no-one can change for me!
