Yet Another New Guy!!

Hello everyone, My name is Scott, I am 32 years old and currently live in Oregon. My weight has always been a problem for me. A couple years ago I was eating healthy and going to the gym 5 days a week and even taking nutrition classes. I was able to drop a lot of weight and slim down. BUT, due to the economy I had lost my job and was unable to afford going to the gym, soon after I had to move back in with family for financial reason which I something I did not want to do, I soon became real depressed about everything and the stressed over not finding a job. My old habits soon started to come back and now I have ballooned back to 360 lbs, ouch! Finally I have found a job and have money coming in again, recently I went to the doctors for a tooth infection and he was worried about my high blood pressure which put a scare into me. Now I am trying to get back into better health, I am starting to eat better and next payday I will be signing up for the gym again. I am dedicated and determined more then ever now to get in shape and start living a healthy lifestyle.

Glad to have you.
Remember, there are so many ways to exercise besides going to the gym. You could walk or run around your neighborhood, exercise inside of your home (unless you live in an upstairs apartment), or playing a sport at a local tennis/basketball/volleyball court if you have one. The list goes on.

We're here when you need support.

Welcome to the forum ^_^

Hi Scott and welcome. It's great that you have decided to get back on track again & I empathise with all the people in the US who have suffered financially due to the GFC. Fortunately it hasn't been all that bad in Australia compared to other economies.

It is possible to exercise without going to the gym as Emerald said but exercising is really difficult when you are battling depression and are stressed.

I look forward to hearing about your journey.

Hey Scott your story is very similar to mine! I had high blood pressure that really freaked me out. My doctor told me I was borderline diabetic...which was all I needed to here to help get my butt back active!

Scott taker this and use it as motivation

I lost the weight and have kept it off for years now and it all started when I got that dreaded new. Now I do everything in my power to keep the weight off because I never want to feel that way again.
