Yarm's No More Excuses!

Congrats on keeping with it!!

I do record all my food as well and it greatly helped me to see all the nutritients as well as closer watch on the calories.
I think 10 lbs is doable by January, just don't give in to the Holidays!!
The following mindset helps me on Holidays or birthdays or whatever : I look up just how much calories i would eat if I eat like everyone else. and when I look at the number and it comes to like 3-4000 calories, I am thinking this is going to cancel out a whole WEEK worth of exercise and some more!! So I sweat for nothing for like over a week just to ruin it in one day!!
So that keeps me away from the Holiday foods.

Keep on going, you are doing great!!!

Friday 11/20/09

A pretty regular day at work today. It was a co worker's birthday and I did partake of the free lunch and cake but it was all smart choices! I had 1 small slice of white pizza and a tossed salad for lunch, and a VERy small piece of cake and cut off the icing. Got home and planned on making dinner, but hubby decided to take us out . . for MEXICAN! Again, I went in knowing that I would make wise choices before we even got seated. I vowed NO CHIPS and salsa- and stuck with it. I ordered a chix fajita salad, only ate half of it and didnt touch the shell it came in. I did allow myself 2 bites of the free dessert the waiter brought- and what a dessert it was: an apple chimichanga .sort of a mexican version of apple pie.

No formal exercise today, and am doing better on water but still need to work on getting more in!

The weather was beautiful today. Slept in a little, made some brownies for the bake table at the church bazaar then headed there to host the table sponsored by the choir. Was smart and packed a snack of pretzel crisps and craisins. Got home and pretty much relaxed the rest of the day.

A pretty nice day today. Started off by sleeping in a litte, then out to breakfast with the family. I was very proud of myself for making wise choices : build your own "slam" - 2 whole wheat pancakes, 2 tukey bacon, yogurt and fruit. Then off to collect friends for the girls to spend the day with. Relaxed a bit while doing some laundry. Ordered pizza for dinner, and had a salad with it.

oh yeah, stepped on the scale for a 1 lb loss, which I'm happy with.

I tracked all I ate on paper yest, but somehow never entered it in my tracker.

Sunday: ? (but certainly in a normal range)
Monday : 1293 calories consumed.

Tuesday 11/24/09

Today was a rather dreary day, quite fitting as it is the 2yr anniversary of my Dad's passing. Got up early and drove out to the gravesite where I met my brother. After topping off the bird feeder and laying some beautiful fall flowers, we left to meet my uncle who leaves near by for some coffee. (I had a coffee and 1 of those parfait things from McD's). We then headed to the funeral home to discuss our options for the headstones for Mom & Dad- the folks there could not have been any nicer. When that was all done, headed back to work, then grocery shopping and finally some time to RELAX!

Didn't have a real structured meal plan today- just an off day, but the good news is that I stayed under 1300 calories. I havent had any formal exercise since Thursday- the workout with the PT Wed will be a wake up call LOL.

This week is Thanksgiving- but I have a plan. I will only have 1 plate (NO seconds!) and fill it mostly with veggies, then some protein and just a little carbs. I will also eat a very light breakfast and save my calories for the dinner. I hope too, that the weather is nice so I can take a walk afterwards.

Wow- it's been almost a week since I have posted?! Well, the past days have more or less been a big blurr.

Wednesday I worked out and weighed in with the PT who comfirmed the loss of @2lbs. On track eating, and of course got my exercise in. Thursday was of course Thanksgiving- all in all, not too bad, having only eaten that one meal but ate more than I should have, especially in the carbs dept. Was off on Friday, no formal meals before heading back to in laws to pick up the kids and have leftover- again, too much food. Saturday I had to work, they run to take Emma to her performance. Ate a yogurt for breakfast and had a soft pretzel at the performance. Later that night, went out to dinner with my brother and his family, where I think I made a decent choice having a french onion soup, and garden salad topped with grilled chix breast. And finally yesterday, was Thanksgiving dinner on my side of the family. Again, only the one meal, but the plate was pretty full and I snacked on beer bread too so likely too many carbs as well.

Today I happen to be off and have plans to get the laundry done, take down the fall decorations and maybe get some Christmas shopping done. I grabbed a fiber 1 bar before heading to the gym for a good workout: 30 minutes working weight machines, and 45 min on stair climber.

Am back on track counting calories, and will post them at the end of the day.

All in all, I feel pretty good about the Thanksgiving holiday. While I may have eaten more than I should have, I did my no means Binge, nor did I use the excuse of "I screwed up this one time so I may as well blow the entire day and start again tomorrow". I'm getting to a much better place mentally when it comes to food.

Where has the time gone? Has it really been that long since I posted? Tis the season to be hectic and crazy!

Well the good news is that I'm down: 175.4lbs!

But it's been so crazy trying to meticulously track my food intake both
in my journal I carry with me, and online. I'm still working out regularly
and am always aware of what I am eating, and why. Also, I have been
doing a rough weekly plan of what to eat, and I think that has been
really beneficial. Could still stand to drink more water, but it's so cold!!
Oh, and my personal trainer told me that he may be leaving the gym come January, so I may be looking for a new one in the near future.

Today is another busy one: get a tree, go to Mary Kay open house, then over to my sister-in-laws for some cookie baking and bag decorating.

For continued success during this busy, busy time of year, I need to
continue to make wise food choices and workout regularly.

BUSY BUSY BUSY! Everyday presents new challenges, and new list of things to do before Christmas. I'm so busy I have not even had time to track my food in my journal or online. My water is still lacking what it should be, and I'm only getting 3-4 days of exercise in. But somehow, incredibly, the scale goes down! (174.8lbs!) I have been really smart not only about my food choices, but more importantly WHY I'm eating. I have been following a rough schedule of planned food- healthy breakfast w/ milk and vitamin, small healthy lunch, regular dinner with family- though a smaller portion and 2 healthy snacks per day. I even allow my self an extra treat - like a mini chocolate bar, or mini choc covered pretzel.

While this is working atm over the holidays, I must be diligent about my choices and maintain the right frame of mind when it comes to food- it's fuel primarily, and it will always be there(no need to eat the whole thing if you're not hungry, no need to eat 3-4 cookies when 1 will due!)

We'll I'm off for another busy day. My challenge today: TRACK all my FOOD!

Back to it!

Goodnews/Badnews:
Goodnews- I did not binge and go crazy knowing its Christmas and that New Year's was around the corner to make a resolution to get back on track, blah blah blah
The Badnews- I have not been tracking, and therefore consuming a bit too many calories and/or allowing myself a few extra treats I should have been more aware of.

Result: 177.4lbs. Not bad really, but seeing last post was 174, I probably should have worked harder to stay focused.

The holidays have been great! Spending time with families and friends is the part I love best. But to be honest, I'm ready to get it over with. Just this past weekend I was 3 days in a row at my brother Rob's house for scheduled/rescheduled holiday events. I'm ready to put it all away and get back on a regular schedule.

This week's MAIN goal is to plan/track my food. I will be headed to the grocery store tomorrow and will be get all the proper foods to assist me!

Treading Water

Still hovering @176 lbs.

I'm exercising 3-5 times a week, and eating healthy foods. It must be my
portions that are keeping me from a continual downward trend on the scale.
I'm feeling great! I know I'm stronger and healthier but wish that what I
see in the mirror would reflect THAT!

Planning my menu seems to help alot, so I am starting with that AND
tracking all my food to be sure it is the right amounts and that I'm
not forgetting things either. IN addition to tracking the food, I will log
in daily to post how I am doing.

Life is good- everyone is healthy. Have parties to plan for sister's birthday,
another sister's baby shower, and a tribute party to honor my parents.
Hubby and I are working on what to do with the house. It's too small.
We are hoping to have enought money to either build on, or move. I have
contacted our advisor as to what he thinks makes the most sense
financially.
Im taking off next Mon and Tues. Will work some on the house- clearing out
a closet or 2, and getting some decorations on the wall (finally after they
were repainted lst summer!) I also will be scheduleing a hair appt- I think
I want something a litte different, but havnet decided what style yet.

I will be UNDER 170 by Valentines's Day!

Wed Day 1- off to great start

Awesome day, but then again I know it's always easier at the beginning.

For Wednesday, I ate well and got exercise in.
Lite english muffin w/p.b. for breakfast. Lean Cuisine for lunch.
Taco salad for dinner (homemade). Snacks of grapefruit and choc covered prunes pieces- really good! and yogurt. Worked out with P.T. for an hour.

Consumed: 1430
Burned: 337

Started a challenge for St. Patrick's Day that starts next Wed. It will help keep me focused on my goals!

Building the habits

Day 2= good day.
Ate within my limit and got 30 min on the stair climber at the gym.
2 slices of light cinnomn bread and cheese for breakfast, a smartones for
lunch, some plum sweets and pretzels for snacks, and 2 slices of pizza for
dinner

Consumed: 1584
Burned: 379

Spoke with Rusty again about the house situation- looks like a move
is in our future! I'm sorta excited becasue I've always wanted a big
old house and now that we may move, I hope to get what it is that
I REALLY want! We we makes somemore slight upgrades to our
exsisting house in the meantime- as soon as this Monday when
I am off.

I'm working on creating the good habit of removing all my makeup
before bed time. 2nd day in a row under my belt 8).

1/29/10

today was another decent day. Ate wekk, got to the gym and a relaxing day after work.

Had a low cal english muffin with p.b. and a banana fro breakfast, a frozen entree meal for lunch, a yogurt plumsweets and grapefruit for snacks. At home I had some jambalaya which was really good, and snacked on some baked tortilla chips.

Consumed: 1647
Burned: 295
This weekend I'm seeing my sister Kelley. Will go out for an ethnic dinner and see a show Sat, and some ladies meeting on Sunday.

You can be under 170 by Valentine's day!! Keep on working hard.

I am back into it as well. Have about 7 lbs to lose and want to make it happen by the end of February!! We should have our own mini-challenge!!

Planning my food is the most helpful for me. Otherwise I easily overdo it.

Wed 2/3/10

Busy busy BUSY!

Been eating well, but not tracking. Still need to work on water intake.
Will work harder on getting more protein in.

Sat it snowed, so I didnt go to my sister's Sat night, but did go Sunday.
Went to a cool show about Mozart, then went out to dinner with the
family at an Irish place- good stuff. Monday I spent the day cleaning out
the closet in the TV room. Little one was sent hom sick with an upset
tummy. Yesterday I had a guy come and repair our water softening machine.
I also got a NEW hair cut- 2-3 inches off and I love it! Then I had a realtor
come and offer suggestion about our house as we are looking to move
in the near future. I'm really excited, but really nervous- so much work!
Our house is so cramped and clutter and we ahve to move some of that
stuff out to make the house look bigger to potenial buyers. That, and
the fact that I'm told we pretty much have to have a contract on our house before we can look at a new house is a bit scary. We need a bigger house
but want to move in the same area so the kids dont have to change
schools.

I see some long, stressful days in my future LOL

Wed seems a blurr to me now lol. Got up and out of the house, dropping kids to daycare early as scholls were 2 hours late. Got to work, ate well then off to the gym. My PT's last week will be next week so I met theguy who will be taking over- they both kicked my butt at the session. Then off to the bank, got gas and back to get my daughter to the dr. for her ear appt. Bad news there- turns out she can't hear properly because she has a hole in her ear drum that will require surgery- meeting with a surgeron guy in 2 weeks. Following that, we went to the grocery store as they are calling for upwards of 2 feet or more of snow and I was gonna go Fri but that place will be a mad house by then. Got home, put away groceries and made dinner. Finally at about 8 30, sat down with hubby to discuss more about the real possibllies of moving to a new house- this one is TOO SMALL!!!

Ate well, drank water and exercised . . GO ME!

Friday 2/5/10

On track Thursday. Ate within limits, but not great choices. While i stayed in the caloric intake liit, I did snack on some empty carb pretzels and dinner was late because of a high school introduction thing for our eldest. We stopped at Wendy's for dinner- I havent eaten fast food in over a year or more. Made a good choice in taco salad, but know it's loaded with sodium- but I had to eat something. Did some cleaning around the house.

Talked in detail the past few days with the PT about my diet. He called me
this am and we discussed my food intake the past few days. Seems like I need to add more veggies to start, and maybe limit my treats to a few times a week. He will discuss it more with another PT and get back to me.

Preppin for the big snow storm- calling for upwards of 2 feet! Glad I got my shopping done on Wed.

Monday 2/8

Yikes what a weekend! 2 feet of snow and
our yard has some drifts almost 3 feet! Did get some exercise shoveling
all the white stuff, but eating was WAY OFF. I suffered from some cravings
but never found what it was I wanted- but tried like hell (eat alot of things).
8(

I have to go to work today, and will stop by the store- that will be fun!-
and get some GOOD/healthy foods in the house! Today is hubby and I
22nd anniversary and neither of us were able to get/do anything special
thanx to the snow. Guess we will celebrate over Valentines.

Tuesday 2/9

Well, disappointed with my dinner last night.
Not the taste of it, but my lack of control and the choice in the first
place. Did well for breakfast and lunch. Dinner another story.
Hubby was able to get his parents to take the kids for the night.
We got a movie and ordered chinese. I don't know what came
over me, but I ordered ribs and kung pau chicken. The only
good news is that I only ate half of the chicken. Between's
last night's dinner, and superbowl snacking there will be no
surprise when I see the # on the scale when I weigh in tomorrow.

I did go to the grocery store and so my house now has lots of
healthy choices. Now just to plan a healthy menu! When am I
gonna get it in my thick head that if I find the time to make the
menu, it is easier to stay on track!

This is priority #1 today!

Don't beat yourself up.
We all have those kind of days.
The key is to try not deprive yourself of the foods you like. I find when I deprive myself of like ice-cream or chocolate I fall off the wagon so much easily and harder. The key is moderation.
Your weigh-in will be off anyway becuse of the salt in the chinese food.

Plan your menu and stick to it!! it will be worth it at the end!!
